So if we imagine women to be fish and guys to be the fishermen, then we can get the following scenarios; The lonely guy who, as you say, is left holding his rod while there are not fish going for his bait. The creepy "Captain Ahab" like guy who stalks one fish for days on end and will hook it no matter what the eventual cost will be. The happy fisher who goes home with his fish at the end of the day and is happy with life. The guy who does this for fun, or one of the supposed assholes, who will catch a fish and then release it before catching a new one.
