I think that most artists write about exactly what happens ("I wake up in the morning and...") but Owl City leaves a lot to the listener to imagine. Even if that makes the lyrics really random and weird sometimes.

well, that particular line is creepy, but by and large his songs aren't creepy (except maybe "I'm Coming After You"). The songs with weird lyrics are Rugs From Me To You, Dental Care, Panda Bear etc
