no, actually, moss grows on the shady side because moss grows best in shade. it is not intelligent, nor can it move, therefore it doesn't point to anything

If you're trying to make a Spongebob reference, that would be "algae always points to civilization." That was the episode where he and Squidward were lost out in the wilderness trying to deliver a pizza, I believe.
