Youtubers who don't have sponsors are way better than ones that always have them. amirite?
by Anonymous1 year ago
So... it's not the quality of the video that's the issue. But you have issue with a designated part where they talk about the sponsorship?
by Anonymous1 year ago
Yes, larger companies are extremely uncommon in sponsorship segments and I would prefer them better if they were regularly used.
by Anonymous1 year ago
Like what company? I highly prefer smaller companies I don't know about rather than the 50th manscaped or even worse even bigger companies I already see about.
by Anonymous1 year ago
At least for me, the "raaaaaiiiiiiid, shadow legends" spots have gone down significantly. As have purple mattress.
Now I just gotta find a way to avoid the manscaped and doctor squatch ads.
I intentionally avoid those products out of spite
by Anonymous1 year ago
They have to make money though. Just skip to sponsor portion
by Anonymous1 year ago
If I wanted to see ads from large corporations, I'd just watch regular TV
by Anonymous1 year ago
I'll take a direct sponsor over YouTube ads any day, at least you can always skip past them, even better if the creator puts a timestamp to skip it.
by Anonymous1 year ago
Also the Creator gets a say which products they get to advertise instead of leaving it up to YouTube to pair them with a product they may not agree with.
by Anonymous1 year ago
YouTube "partner" here.. uh what? Lol Not once has yt asked me to select or deselect sponsors. It's simply monetize or not. We don't pick the ads that roll.
by Anonymous1 year ago
I would accept them if they were from larger companies (or anything close to that), most of the ones are from smaller companies that I don't exactly have much interest in.
by Anonymous1 year ago
you're specifically upset that they aren't sponsored by massive companies?
by Anonymous1 year ago
What a weird take when smaller businesses are usually (big usually) better than much bigger companies and supporting small businesses is how we keep the big bois from taking advantage where ever they can for more $$$ lol
by Anonymous1 year ago
We all need to eat man
by Anonymous1 year ago
I prefer my YouTubers to have a stable income
by Anonymous1 year ago
Must be a HayDay sponsor then
by Anonymous1 year ago
How do you expect the people you get free entertainment from to make money lol? They make zero off add revenue.
by Anonymous1 year ago
To add to ops opinion i think YouTube was more entertaining than when being a YouTuber as a career wasnt as common and people were just making videos for the hell of it
by Anonymous1 year ago
>They make zero off add revenue.
That's not true, most creators make a significant portion of their income from ad revenue and some even almost all.
It is true that a lot of big creators wouldn't be able to make videos as good or frequently as they currently do without sponsors, but for most people it's definitely not their only source of income.
by Anonymous1 year ago
This is wildly incorrect - Ad Revenue on YouTube is abysmal.
by Anonymous1 year ago
All those house tours they show off has to come from somewhere ya know
by Anonymous1 year ago
sponsorships pay much much better
by Anonymous1 year ago
I understand it, however not many big companies are on the list of sponsors.
by Anonymous1 year ago
Why does the size of a company matter?
by Anonymous1 year ago
Who cares?
by Anonymous1 year ago
do you want small companies to stay small forever? lmao what
by Anonymous1 year ago
Let them get paid for their work lol. They get lots of compensation for those sponsorships and all you have to do is take 4 seconds to skip past it
by Anonymous1 year ago
I don't really mind if a YouTuber had an AD read in a part of their video, it's super easy to skip and it's kinda wholesome to know that a YouTuber I like (especially if they are small!) is getting some money for their hard work!
by Anonymous1 year ago
I'd prefer it if I didn't have to pay to eat at a restaurant or to own a vehicle. Can't they just make money some other way?
by Anonymous1 year ago
Sure I would also prefer to not watch an ads or hear about sponsors, but saying that the people who don't take sponsors makes no sense. Can you provide any real argument as to why a YouTuber who rejects sponsors actively is better than a youtuber that works with sponsors?
by Anonymous1 year ago
I just wish they had a sponsor other than that one particular mobile game that I am super sick of hearing about.
by Anonymous1 year ago
Lol I just reference this one, I think it's called June's adventures or something like that.
by Anonymous1 year ago
No, I don't mind if they have their sponsorships. I do skip over them. Sometimes though I just get a giggle over them slinging or Schilling the same products. Function of beauty? Pass. Junes adventures or whatever that game is called? Pass. Hello fresh? I didn't pass on that one but Whatever.
by Anonymous1 year ago
Everyone's gotta eat. It takes less than a second to skip past it. Hardcore first world problems
by Anonymous1 year ago
I actually prefer sponsors in videos. Because if they have that, they often don't have youtube ads before or during the video. And, good creators will put a small bar or some kind of indicator on the screen so you know how long it is, and can just skip ahead quick.
by Anonymous1 year ago
Tell me you like to pay your artist friends and family in "exposure" without telling me you like to pay them that way. 😂🤣😂
by Anonymous1 year ago
I'm okay with sponsors if either the product itself is good or if it's reasonable to assume the YouTuber doesn't have the expertise to tell the product is bad. That being said: If you're a musician or audio expert of some kind and promote the RanCans you lost all credibility in my eyes. I know that you should know better.
by Anonymous1 year ago
Raycons are bad? TIL. I always operated under the assumption they were high quality.
by Anonymous1 year ago
While I get why this is your preference, I really don't understand it. I'd much rather have a skippable sponsor section and know that the youtuber is getting paid for it properly than an skippable rubbish ad. Some people make the sponsors pretty fun. Gibi asmr does then amazingly, very relaxing. Fred's Voice puts his own little actedd videos together that are actually surprisingly entertaining so I never feel like skipping them.
by Anonymous1 year ago
Ill take the sponsor that ill skip over the vid rather than the unskippable 30 sec ad before the vid starts
by Anonymous1 year ago
Only people with YouTube premium have any right to complain about sponsorship in YouTube videos
by Anonymous1 year ago
I only have a problem with sponsorships where it's literally just the person advertising a product that they never use (basically JUST selling the product). If anyone is going to have sponsors, those sponsors should come from things tgat the person/people involved will actually use so there's more truth to the ad reads (like for me, such sponsorships would come from companies like Fred Meyer, A&W, and most notably, Papa Murphy's).
by Anonymous1 year ago
Sponsored segments arent even bad, as soon as you hear a typical bridge segment that leads to sponsor scripts you can just smash the skip forward button 5-10 times and its over
by Anonymous1 year ago
They need to make money, and I respect the hell out of that.
by Anonymous1 year ago
I disagree with you but I have also seen different youtubers incorporate ads with different levels of success. I think @RyanGeorge has the best ads and I watch them even though they are at the end of his videos.
by Anonymous1 year ago
No, I genuinely don't care
Creators need to eat and pay bills too
by Anonymous1 year ago
This video was sponsored by Square space, also give me free money on patreon and please buy my merch.
by Anonymous1 year ago
As Dan Avidan said "I have medical bills man"
by Anonymous1 year ago
One hundred percent. I wish there was a way to even filter monetized channels out of my search results.
by Anonymous1 year ago
The more they dig for money the less authentic they are, as if they were to begin with
by Anonymous1 year ago
People who get money can do it full time
by Anonymous1 year ago
I love that Patreon is a thing myself.
by Anonymous1 year ago
But first a word from our sponsors. RAID SHADOW LEGENDS!!!!!!
by Anonymous1 year ago
Do you take YouTubers that have ads occasionally over none at all?
by Anonymous1 year ago
It's what makes being a YouTuber viable.
by Anonymous1 year ago
It depends how it is done. Some will show on the time bar when it's over so it's easy to skip while no missing any part of the actual video like Zwellik and Veretasium, some put it after the video is over like Alternative History Hub and game theory, but I'd it is clear about when the ads starts and ends and it's easy to not watch it's ok with me. It becomes detrimental to the video if you have to spend time skipping an ad manually, but I'm ok with just 1 click or a ad playing after the video while I look for another
by Anonymous1 year ago
Well yes that's obvious. But creators gotta eat so I'm okay with it.
by Anonymous1 year ago
Agreed, especially with automotive youtubers.
Especially the ones that are sponsered but don't ram it down your throat or used those products before sponsorship.
by Anonymous1 year ago
I dunno, there are some good youtubers with sponsors. Micarah Tewers, for example. But I see what you're saying. Being able to be free of pushing some product makes people more creative and able to speak more freely.
by Anonymous1 year ago
I mean.
The YouTubers who reject sponsorships are doing what they think is best for them and their brand, but they're also rejecting income when they do so.
I can't hate on someone for trying to make money.
by Anonymous1 year ago
I feel bad for creators who work hard but get no sponsors. They need support to make what they love.
by Anonymous1 year ago
Its not about them having sponsors (and many times you dont even realize it), its about promoting trash or being blatant and obnoxious about it, lowering the quality. But sponsors themselves? Nothing bad with it
by Anonymous1 year ago
Flashgitz does sponsorship incredibly well. It's funny to watch and entertaining.
It doesn't matter if you're interested in sponsorship or not. If you like your creator well enough, you could watch it and, if your wallet allows it, help them out.
All I want is product quality and consistency remain same or get better.
No one is forcing you to do anything.
by Anonymous1 year ago
everybody agrees that the video would be better, but if thats the price to pay for them to actually gain money i'm fine with it.
by Anonymous1 year ago
I mean, i just skip it easy. They need to make money
by Anonymous1 year ago
i always skip them too but this is their income, I don't mind skipping over it. i don't expect people to work for free for my entertainment esp if they're demonetised.
by Anonymous1 year ago
If patreon and ad revenue didn't exist I'd disagree with you OP but since they do I'm inclined to agree. I doubt sponsorships are make or break for a lot of YouTubers, anyway. It's probably just extra cash that's nice to have. if you're successful enough in your YouTube career where you're getting sponsorships, you probably don't actually need them to support yourself
Not the worst offense in the world or anything of course but it does make me like the YouTubers who take them just a little bit less
