by Anonymous 1 year ago

As a multiple PhD, test pilot, brain surgeon, and Nobel prize winning economist, let me welcome you to the internet.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I think I've seen some videos of you

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I am none of those. I'm simply an expert in all amateur knowledge. I know nothing about everything, therefore I can never find myself in the wrong.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

And nothing is true, as we all know. So you must be correct.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Nothing is true. Everything is permitted.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

pfff multi PhD... amature I got an omni PhD

by Anonymous 1 year ago

But I've watched a lot of videos of people confirming my personal beliefs.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

People everywhere do that.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Not just here my friend. Life is full of examples of the Dunning Kruger effect. Basically every conspiracy theory relies on it.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

What kills me is, even if you don't understand, the simplest explanation that requires the fewest people to shut up about it is the correct explanation. Every time. There's a saying about how two people can only keep a secret if one of them is dead. The reality is one person can't keep a secret if they leave the room.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Often but i dont always think this is the case. Epstein for sure didnt kill himself.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

here and everywhere and sometimes, even proper PhDs when talking outside their fields...

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Also called the Dunning Kruger effect

by Anonymous 1 year ago

>Dunnin**g**\-Kruger ftfy

by Anonymous 1 year ago

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Do you mean the Dunkin' Krueger effect?

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Or Cunningham's law

by Anonymous 1 year ago

First time on the internet?

by Anonymous 1 year ago

OP is correct but: sometimes actual experts show up to spread context and knowledge. It's marvelous when that happens.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Then someone will argue with them out of their ass and accuse them of Dunning-Kruger like it's a mic drop and leave.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

By 'here' you mean Earth right?

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Yes, this wonderful flat disc we all call home.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Not all of us.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Welcome to the internet~

by Anonymous 1 year ago

by Anonymous 1 year ago

by Anonymous 1 year ago

The word "here" is superfluous in that sentence.

Dunning Kreuger National Park

by Anonymous 1 year ago

A know a little about everything and everything about a couple things. That's enough to get myself into some really good trouble.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I can agree somewhat, but I think there's something to be said about someone going 'well I'm a *field of study*' and then saying something that's glaringly and categorically false.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Most men just say things confidently when it might not be true, as a boy I started tallying up against who said what, started realising nothing was correlating had this terrible realisation men just said things outright as if it was true all the time, some people bought it others dont the ones that did buy it regurgitate this to other followers, misinformation spreads was really confusing me for a long time with all these random facts flying around whilst i wondered which ones to believe, thank god for the internet setting things straight

by Anonymous 1 year ago

..*well as Nietzsche once said..*

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I happen to be an expert in fields I've never studied, and I've never overestimated said expertise. For sure, trust me bro

by Anonymous 1 year ago

by Anonymous 1 year ago

The Illusion of Explanatory depth

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Me with a PhD in Internet: I will now proceed to write an entire book about why you are wrong

by Anonymous 1 year ago

It's the result of fast food books and YouTube channels. You hear a lot of interesting things that sounds plausible, and feel comfortable repeating these talking points. Until you hear something that's actually in your area of expertise then it's "oh no!"

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Probably just because of the level of comfort in talking behind a keyboard/anonymity. I'm no expert

by Anonymous 1 year ago

But... but.. I've watched a 30s tick tock fully explaining the problem. I am now an expert.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Not only here. Is everywhere. EVERYWHERE!!!

by Anonymous 1 year ago

"Ask an expert" online is often a case of getting the right answer to the wrong question. "What should I use to drill into a stud wall?" "Thanks for nothing, that drill bit wouldn't go through the concrete"

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Actually you are completely wrong, every basic theory of philosophy says that people never overestimate that. I'm right.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

It's called the dunnig-kruger effect. Stupid people often think they are smart because they are not aware of what they don't know.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I know everything about everything despite never reading about it.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

it's called mount stupid

by Anonymous 1 year ago

by Anonymous 1 year ago

I'm a nurse and I never even give out nursing/medical advice

by Anonymous 1 year ago

You've grossly overestimated your knowledge of my expertise.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Anytime someone says "I've done the research" I automatically assume they are a moron.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Well, sir, I doubt you are qualified to make that assessment.

by Anonymous 1 year ago

Being an expert in grossly overestimating expertise, let me tell you precisely where you are wrong and how you should be conducting yourself. Ahem .......
