No one ever talks about Amerigo Vespucci. amirite?
by Anonymous7 months ago
I named my dog Amerigo when I was a kid. His full name was Amerigo Vespoochy
by Cortneyturner7 months ago
Must have been tough being such a young dad. I salute you
by Anonymous7 months ago
Poochy died on the way back to his home planet
by Hour_Sort14587 months ago
We're talking about him right now!
by Parking_Tree_69897 months ago
Is he… in the room with us right now?
by BigNo7 months ago
He's behind you.
by Parking_Tree_69897 months ago
only the female scooters have a vespucci
by Anonymous7 months ago
People got fed up of living in Vespuccia.
by Anonymous7 months ago
Oof if only they know they could all have been Vespuccians. USV babe xD
by Anonymous7 months ago
Ahhh or you'll anger the Columbus Conspiracy Crew.
by SecureLow7 months ago
Or Fats Domino, it's the strangest thing
by Anonymous7 months ago
Or Martin Van Buren. What's wrong with people?
by Anonymous7 months ago
The van buren boys will teach you a lesson

I remember doing a school project on him in the 5th grade. He is why the Americas are called the Americas
by Anonymous7 months ago
Groundbreaking research there.
by Anonymous7 months ago
Bad PR. Next time, Amer should hire a better agency.
by Konopelskiverdi7 months ago
Or Washington Irving. He did wonders for Columbus and Paul Revere.
by Worried-Set49187 months ago
Baffling to me. America is literally named after him and they don't have a clue.
by Anonymous7 months ago
Do you know who any other country is named for? I certainly don't.
by jmaggio7 months ago
One country is not the same as two entire continents.
by Anonymous7 months ago
Ok then tell me who the other continents are named for.
by jmaggio7 months ago
We talk about him enough to know who he was.
by Exotic-Tip-80367 months ago
His name is too hard to pronounce.
by Brantlockman7 months ago
You can simply call him ‘Murgo
by Anonymous7 months ago
I prefer Pucci.
by Anonymous7 months ago
Probably not a lot of talk about Vasco DaGama either.
by Anonymous7 months ago
Glad his first name was used. Can you imagine the song: 🎶 God Bless Vespucci…land that I love 🎵 It just doesn't sound right.
by Anonymous7 months ago
Ahh, a name we're all familiar with whether we know it or not.
by Anonymous7 months ago
Who is this (I'm assuming) legend?
by Ecstatic-Employee7 months ago
And to think, if his parents named him Josh instead...... Would we be living in Joshland?
by Anonymous7 months ago
Josh is short for Joshua meaning "God is deliverance" so we are lucky it's not named somewhat after him. But almost every state/country is named after a person/persons when you break it down
by Anonymous7 months ago
In some countries of LATAM and in Spain, you can find many streets named after him
by Anonymous7 months ago
Maybe because he was a slave trader. He didn't name the continents. A German cartographer used the name on his charts, and it was picked up through popular usage.
by Anonymous7 months ago
Wait... so America is America cause some dude wrote his name on a map; which another dude just said "meh", and named the continent that on his map?
by Ok_Flamingo_85947 months ago
Correct. That's history for you, much more incidental than most people realize.
by Glad_Football59437 months ago
WWI (and possibly WWII, the much acclaimed sequel) could have been prevented if the Archduke's driver hadn't taken a wrong turn.
by Anonymous7 months ago
It's not that incidental
by Anonymous7 months ago
I learned about him in school.
by danikapowlowski7 months ago
I do. People aren't that interested most of the time.
by Anonymous7 months ago
That's a nice Italian name.
by Murky_Set_88427 months ago
I mean what a stupid first name, right?
by Anonymous7 months ago
He was excellent at shuffleboard.
by Key-Sign-31107 months ago
They should have named his discovery Vespuccistan.
by Several-Jaguar-23667 months ago
Wasn't she at The Oscars?
by Anonymous7 months ago
Except on The Vespucci Hour on Explorer FM Ameriiiigo, he got there first!
by Anonymous7 months ago
The American Pickers sure do, especially Mike.
by Anonymous7 months ago
We are now and we all know who you're talking about sooo......No.
by Anonymous7 months ago
Lots of us did in school. In the before times where schools were about education and not meat flap toilet issues.
