+37 Chappell Roan is annoying, amirite?

by Gcarroll 4 weeks ago

Way outside her demographic but her music seems fun enough. I looked up that video and she seems like she's joking. At least I think so. Even if she's not, pop stars are often dramatic, cringey people. Like, I love Lady Gaga, but she seems a little much at times.

I don't really like her but I get why people do. I never understand when celebrities get surprised that people are crazy and say crazy things to them. That's one thing you kinda sign up for when you become famous. It doesn't make it okay or anything, but famous people have always and will always have stalkers, people who think they know them, etc. it's just how it is

I don't find her annoying I guess I find it more annoying that people think it's unique to her that she's body positive and welcoming to neglected communities. Isn't that kind of the trend right now amongst all the pop star queens. Maybe I'm just mega out of the loop in terms of pop music though. Good for her and all her success

I like her. She's refreshing and real. She's not perfect 🤷🏻‍♀️

by dawn87 4 weeks ago

She's the freshest thing that we've seen in pop in a long time. Her voice is amazing, her songs slap and her lyrics are fantastic as well. Don't be a hater. She's so authentic.

I have actively been avoiding Chappell Roan because I can already tell I don't like her vibe.

by Deshaun55 4 weeks ago

I like her. She's a refreshing pop culture icon and I like how she empowers people to be themselves. That being said, I agree that it was a little weird to call out people at a festival who didn't know her dance or whatever. Like you said, those people probably weren't there for her lol. Overall though I think she's talented and pretty great.

by Electrical_Budget 4 weeks ago

I mean it's pretty hard to not know the dance when she literally teaches it to you before the song

by Possible_Balance 4 weeks ago

I mean if you don't like her music you probs don't want to dance to it. Also in most festivals (at least the ones I've been to) the VIP section is told not to jump around and dance a lot since the areas are quite small and it is easy to break things... you shouldn't shame someone for not wanting to dance to your song...

by Gcarroll 4 weeks ago

I've been to plenty of VIP sections and I've never once in my entire life been told I can't dance. I've never even heard of such a thing. I just think it's rude and boring to refuse to engage with the performer, even if their music isn't your typical cup of tea.

by Possible_Balance 4 weeks ago

I don't know. I think going from being an unknown to absolutely massive in the span of less than 18 months is a completely reasonable thing to go to one's head? even if it has, which, i'm not so sure about?

It's part of her spunky demeanor to say things like that dude, it's not that serious.

I just like dancing at the pink pony club

Oh wow, a real live hater! Population is still thriving.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Crazy to me that people don't use the internet for things they, ya know, like. Instead they come on here and just hate on people/things.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

I've listened to her music and watched her videos too and honestly I don't get it either. This is a place to discuss unpopular opinions not to tell people to gtfo.

by Anonymous 4 weeks ago

Neato. You could also just move on if it's not for you and find the things you do like.

It's nice to see someone being real on stage like that. I've heard that VIP can be boring and unenthusiastic so calling them out on it is funny. Also let's say that yeah maybe they aren't there to see her, but what about the rest of the crowd? Surely everyone there had different artists they wanted to see and maybe weren't there for Chappell, and yet they ALL did the dance. VIP was definitely weird for not doing it lol.

by Arvid18 4 weeks ago

It just comes off as self centered. Not everyone is going to dance to your music... not everyone is gonna be excited to see you. The VIP section is usually small and often (at least at the festivals I've been to) they're told not to make too much movement or dance around a lot so that they don't damage the property. Plus in the video we only saw the front rows, so the biggest fans of hers running to get to the front row excited to see her.

I mean idk I think it's pretty rude to go to a festival and refuse to engage with the artists sets. At the very least it's boring of them

I don't dislike her and find her music pretty catchy, but I do find the whole "I blew up faster than I expected and now don't want all this attention" shtick to be…insincere. She's been in the music industry for like 7 years and was once dropped by her record label. She's been working at this for a long time and even though her star rose quickly once people took notice of her, she was far from an overnight success. If she didn't want all this attention, why did she open for Olivia Rodrigo? Why is she playing all these festivals? Why keep working at this for 7 years if you don't want to become popular? She even has said she vowed to only give her music career one more year and if she didn't take off, she'd quit. Now she wants to quit because she took off? It's well within her power to maintain middling success if that's all she wants. She obviously wanted more than that.

It's her fan base, not her. Idk that lady. 😅

I don't dislike her but I don't get the hype either

by weimannlauriane 4 weeks ago

shes a little too much, but thats fine. Its how pop stares get famous in genz 2024 anyways. super feminist, queer, I mean that's a recipe for a huge fanbase. Music is pretty basic and mainstream. Her fanbase are a bunch of retards tho.
