Not unpopular. And, teachers cannot diagnose a child; that is the job of a professional. Different stokes for different folks. Live and let live.

Home schooling is a lot different these days it's in a style of college online with teachers and all

Not always. Most of the people I know who do this don't use the fancy homeschooling that is like normal school without the social interaction. That might teach their kids something they don't want them to know. They do the textbook/workbook route that let's you pick which version of the world your kids learn and act shocked when their kids can't make it as adults. Sorry Karen, algebra, reading comprehension, basic computer skills, and a general understanding of the world are requirements for many jobs. This a failing of parents for picking these programs and society for allowing them to exist.

I feel like I can speak on this one

Do.....do you think homeschooled kids don't see pediatricians regularly? Jesus Christ smh.

I really think you should pass a test and be licensed first in order to be able to homeschool your children. I've seen way too many uneducated people homeschool their kids and not actually teach them much and use it as an excuse to pass along their craziness. Don't get me wrong, they are not all like that. We have friends that homeschool and they strict and have a schedule and kids are smart and well adjusted socially and emotionally. In the other hand, we know a few who instead of advocating for their kids, pull them out complaining that schools are just brainwashing and all that and then homeschool but they themselves barely graduated high school and don't even know simple geography.

wtf... they are deliberately lowering chances to their kids to have ok life...

Whenever I tell people about the educational neglect I experienced as a "homeschooled" child, I immediately get dogpiled and told "not all homeschoolers."

I don't want to ban it outright I just want a lot more regulations

by Anonymous 4 months ago

Right. This started out as a complaint against the general competency of home schoolers. Then it moved to needing some sort of quick fix issue, then veers into disabilities. I might agree with their opinion, but I don't know what it is.

by Anonymous 4 months ago

Yeah, that's what we need, more parents trying to tell the education professionals how to do their job as they "advocate".

by Anonymous 4 months ago

Except those kids aren't theirs. It isn't up to them. Nobody gets to tell me how to raise my kids or what they need to learn or how they need to learn it. I am my kids' parent. Everyone else needs to butt out.

by Anonymous 4 months ago

It ain't Burger Kng, you don't get it your way. Yeah. It is up to them. Don't like the program? Bring your kids home and out of the system. 🤷‍♂️ In short, don't like it, YOU need to butt out - and get out. People like you are why we have chronic and ever worse shortages of teachers. Who could possibly pay them enough to deal with the likes of you?

Would be good advise if most public schools were not showing that they are more interested in indoctrinating children to their political and social views than teaching them and private schools are too expensive.

by Weak-Coffee-7749 4 months ago

I'm glad I'm not having kids because I don't think I'd have any interest in sending them to one of the indoctrination zones. I also don't want to go to prison and if I found out a teacher was spewing their far left commie agenda on my kids, I'd shove my foot so far up their ass they'd be tasting shoe laces.
