+32 Emily Armstrong Shouldn't Be Judged for How She Sounds Live, amirite?

by Anonymous 4 months ago

If you record something and plan to sing it live, usually you have to think about that before recording the song though. "Can I do this live, or not?" I also think one-off shows are different from touring. If you're Chester Bennington you're going to be singing at full strength for 30 or more shows in a row, which isn't easy on anyone, I don't think.

Mike has also always struggled, but it's less noticeable when he's rapping. He does better now than he did back in the day, but still not great

You're right. She should be judged for being a Scientologist and supporting Danny Masterson, a convicted rapist.

Those are not good excuses

by TallPoet3842 4 months ago

Grow up? Lol thanks. That's very mature of you. She's a terrible singer and there's no defending someone that defends rapists. People just love Linkin Park so they're giving her a pass. I like Linkin Park too. They should've never hired her.

In a world where everyone is perfectly informed, sure. We don't live in that world. Attending one hearing is completely meaningless

You're purposely missing my point

Trent Reznor fired his whole band and ever since that NIN has been terrrible

by Remarkable-Eagle-692 4 months ago

NIN has never been that good, tbh. "Hurt" was their peak and it was done better by Johnny Cash lol

by Anonymous 4 months ago

I disagree that Cash did Hurt better than NIN. He made it his own and really poured himself into it, but that it's better simply comes down to taste.

Everyone has an off day, and live performances can be tricky. It's like catching someone on a bad hair day—don't judge them for it.

by Anonymous 4 months ago

It's not just that performance 🤦 it's an example

If you suck live, you do suck and you just compensated for your lack of talent in the studio with technology.

by Anonymous 4 months ago

That doesn't make it less enjoyable, especially if they can carry a performance on energy. I love older Linkin Park, but I still recognize they've always sucked live, vocally. Lyrics and melody still matter. If you can't carry a tune, but can drive an audience, go right ahead. A lot of famous bands suck ass live, vocally. Motley Crue comes to mind...lol

Sometimes it's hit or miss, in her case it's always a miss

by Anonymous 4 months ago

idk why she's even relevant right now

by Comfortable_Tap 4 months ago

Uh...she joined an extremely popular band and is taking the position of a beloved artist??

It's like watching a sports game— i wanna turn it off.

The band should have closed shop when Chester passed, sorry. I've seen the real LP live, this ain't it.

by Anonymous 4 months ago

You're probably right, but there's no escaping that Chester was always bad live, vocally

by Anonymous 4 months ago

They were great when I saw them live.

by Anonymous 4 months ago

When was it? I'm sure there's footage of it, but I've never seen a live video where Chester or Mike sounded good. Energy can do a lot for a band. That's fine, but it is what it is

by Anonymous 4 months ago

Bro, they didn't even start singing for almost 7 and a half minutes lol

The playing of instruments is arguably better than in the studio, and the singing is still good, even though Gilmore is much older in this concert Linkin Park is about 50% vocals for fans, mostly because of the lyrics. LP does just fine live when it comes to instrumental performance. Their guitarists are great, drummer is phenomenal (tho he won't be on the tour, this round), their DJ is also great. Also, a vocalist who barely sings is harder to judge because there are fewer sound samples and it is harder to maintain a constant performance. I don't buy it as an excuse to be bad, but it is a fact of life. Energy is incredibly important in shows, so if you have good energy, I accept it as an excuse to be kinda bad, musically

by Anonymous 4 months ago

Don't get me wrong, personally, I would like bands to sound good, at least, live. However, I do understand those who respond strongly to energy. Even with me enjoying the music, if the energy is bad, I won't enjoy the show. Asking Alexandria is a good example because I like a good bit of their songs, but their crowds are awful and ruin the experience. The on stage persona with Danny on stage also helped ruin the show. A bad or lazy vocal performance will kill a show for me, but I understand how others can look past it for good energy

Pink Floyd fans act like there's no other band worth listening to because they exist. They're not even that good. And their fans are arrogant dicks.
