I think luck plays a part but it is overstated by losers who want an excuse for their failures. I was lucky to be born in the part of the world I was, and to have the parents I did. With that said, I have outperformed ~80% of people who were born in similar circumstances to me. All of these people had the same opportunities as I did, but they didn't put in the effort to capitalize on them. With that said, I also acknowledge that about 10% to 20% of people similar to me have worked harder than me and achieved more. There are people who saw the same opportunities as I did and pursued them resulting in them becoming multi-millionaires.
