Looks play an important role in deciding how popular a music artist is, amirite?

I feel like this is just a widely known fact. There's exceptions. I disagree there.

I'm sure it doesn't hurt but I can think of some successful musicians that aren't conventionally attractive. Most of them are men. Also consider that when you look at these people you're seeing professional make up, hair, lighting, filters and probably some plastic surgery. If you saw most of them as a nobody at the grocery store you probably wouldn't look twice.

Obviously. A lot of popular music is pretty "easy" without layers, easy to sing along. There are some exceptions, but most pop artists don't have to be good singers and are mostly used for their looks. How do you think Madonna got popular? It definitely wasn't her voice..

This doesn't go far enough and is also not an opinion but a fact. In this day and age in pop music, looks and your social media account is all that matters. Most "artists" will lip sync all their concerts and use auto tune. People like Rihanna or Taylor Swift or Katy Perry or whatever have no real talent. They don't even write the music themselves, it gets mainly written by Max Martin.

Most of the artists you're probably thinking of get signed to major labels who help enhance their image with stylists, nutritionists, etc. They don't just look like that before they're rich and famous. And the average person usually has the potential to be a lot more attractive if their circumstances were completely different
