it's like 80%. Tons of people have a type of oral herpes on a technicality, but just never get any symptoms and therefore it doesn't spread because they don't get the cold sores. It's ridiculously common. More people have it than don't, by far. You just need to be on the lookout for people who have the more serious types.

Worst I get is cold sores which are annoying and can be spread into genital herpes if I decide to rub my open sore and coochie with the same hand but I always cover mine up and immediately treat it.

And? My concern is that people don't want to date other with genital herpes ok that's fine. However they don't think twice about people with cold sores. Their reasoning is because they don't want to get genital herpes. But a person with oral herpes can give you genital herpes if you receive oral sex from them. So you don't magically never get genital herpes if you avoid people with it. So their through process doesn't hold up, it's not consistent with their concerns.

And usually you will get it when a partner's symptoms are clear as day and oozing with pus. Unless all the sex people are having are in the complete dark, I understand the idea of young adults not wanting to date someone who gets herpes, it's more indicative of their youth and their knowledge of sex and relationships, they probably haven't even gone to the doctors on their own their whole lives.

What do you mean by they aren't sought after? Because I'm reading that as you mean that people with cold sores are gross, disgusting, sluts, etc. so people don't want them. A majority of them aren't, and a majority of the population has the virus. You probably do too and don't know it. It's highly contagious and you don't have to do sexual activity to pass it.

If forced to choose between: A) Person with clusters of blisters around the mouth B) Person without clusters of blisters around the mouth most people would pick B). That said, there are of course other more important factors people consider when choosing a partner. I've also had cold sores. You're being overly dramatic.

Ppl in coments are unaware that like more than 90% of humanity, likely including themselves too, have herpes virus. If you had a cold sore omce in your life, you are infected with herpes. Forever. It will stay in your body for as long as you live and will likely transmit to your children too. There isn't even any need to do anything with that, you can reduce the symptoms to absolute zero for decades, but the virus will always be present.

No, you can transmit genetically only herpesvirus 6 (HHV-6). Not the virus for cold sore or even genital herpes.

It's pretty easy to know when there's an active flare up with herpes. Just don't go spreading it around when the virus is active and you're fine. It doesn't magically spread to other people, it's very easy to avoid with just a little awareness and consideration

You do know genital herpes is not treatable like a cold sore and you will remain contagious even with not outbreak. Antivirals and protected sex is a must.

It's easier to know when a cold sore is active, it's literally written all over their face. I think some people believe there's a higher chance of not noticing an active flare up with genital herpes unless they make a habit of looking at their partners genitals before engaging. Which would be normal to do so but not everyone does all the time. I agree though with you that people act like genital herpes is so taboo. And don't get me wrong, obviously I wouldn't want to have it. But it's just like any other virus, it just so happens that it effects the genitals instead of another part of your body. It's painful but it doesn't make the person any different than anyone else.

Not even close man. One is easily treatable when in an outbreak and very little fastidious. Once healed you are not anymore contagious until the next outbreak. Genital herpes its very painful. Not treatable. You are contagious even when not in an outbreak. You can only take precautions to minimize transmission. Yes this unpopular and misinformed opinion.

If you have genital herpes type 2 it's literally the same virus as a cold sore. They're all treated with acyclovir so all ‘treatable' however not curable.

You seem to be missing the point that there are ways to have one but not the other if you're safe. I have cold sores, my partner doesn't. If I get a cold sore we don't kiss or have sex until it's gone. Boom, no genital herpes. I am not going to give him or myself genital herpes unless I go rubbing my open sores on his dick or on myself.

Yes so if you can take perecautiona from getting genital herpes from someone with the oral herpes you can take precautions from getting genital herpes from someone with genital herpes. I don't see the difference. I don't mean you in particular I just mean people will take precautions with coldsores but refuse to even date someone with genital herpes .

Contrary to popular belief, it is possible to spread HSV-1 even when asymptomatic. It's just less likely. It's almost impossible to not get herpes sometime in your life.

There's a lot of people who don't care much about cold sores but care about genital herpes. Also USA is a bit different people from there get blood tests whereas the countries I'm from and have lived do not do blood tests and only swab. So people in these countries are more chill and are like it's a cold sore ok and make sure they avoid stuff if they feel one comming or have one. However there is still stigma around genital herpes. Even drs don't advocate for disclosing they just say be mindful and avoid contact if symptomatic. USA is just I dunno like a hypochondriac nation 😂 I watched ufc in USA channel and every advert was about a pharmaceutical
