-66 Larian's Biggest Mistake On Baldur's Gate 3... amirite?

I see why you might think so, and this is probably a very unpopular opinion. The problem with voicing the protagonist in an RPG is that is severely restricts the amount of dialogue-options, and branching paths, the MC can have. It means you kind of have to end up like in Mass Effect, where you're limited to kind of the same three choices every time. The goal of BG3 is also to get as close as possible to an authentic D&D-experience that you can get in a video game. The MC is supposed to be someone you roleplay as, with a huge variety to the character you can create, not like in Mass Effect, where you get a pre-made character that you can take in some specific pre-made ways. The BG3 MC is someone you kind of voice yourself, since that is what you would have to do in D&D. Other characters make their own choices and have their own voices, so it makes sense for them to be voiced. Simply put, I don't think it would have been possible for Larian to make BG3 with a fully voiced MC without compromising on the amount of choice and agecy the player has.
