Have you considered that not every single person affected by these storms is super conservative? I'm worried about a friend of mine who lives in Florida who is LGBT and as progressive as they come but just happens to live in a conservative state. Just like how, if you live in a progressive state, you've also definitely come across conservative religious people where you live.

I also have no sympathy for the people that continue voting for a party that denies climate change. Having your home destroyed by climate change feels like cosmic justice at that point. I do however feel bad for everyone who is trapped there with all the crazies. Many decent people are affected.

You have to realise that unfortunately there are, for lack of better term, "politically innocent" people in danger, the same way there are "politically innocent" women who hate that their bodily rights are being taken away by people whose morals are ruled by a book.
