raisins work in some salads. as do slices of apple, and many other fruits. There are plenty of fruits that work in a salad, if you only think of the ones that don't, that's a failure of imagination :)

Tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers and olives are all undeniably salad ingredients. Apples, pears, pomegranate and cranberries can all easily make their way in there without issue. Lemon is almost a staple on salads. Beets in a fruit salad are fine, but they're far less sensible.
