+54 having a huge lifted vehicle that you don't haul/off-road with is the same as wearing a shirt for a band you don't listen to, amirite?

by Anonymous 2 months ago

It's actually a lot more pathetic. A vehicle is an approximate to a life long commitment. A t shirt is a piece of clothing. Pick up yuppies are a lot more pathetic than any kind of tshirt poser could ever even dream of being. Not even in the same league.

by Anonymous 2 months ago

Most things that people think of lifted as less functional at either lol, if you are gonna lift something it better be to stuff a bunch of tire under it so it can off road better.

by Anonymous 2 months ago

Facts. Have a 2" lift with 37s, eyeing a different one so we can fit 40s and have more clearance lmao

by Anonymous 2 months ago

I used to think that way, but I call them Harvey Helpers now. After Hurricane Harvey, a lot of those posers nutted up and helped a lot of good people because their trucks could actually drive through the waters. Maybe it's just a regional thing, maybe they're douchebags, maybe they're not. Either way, who gives a crap?

by Stewartleffler 2 months ago

That's really wholesome actually

by Anonymous 2 months ago

Yes, totally, more capable vehicles are crucial for helping get aid in during disasters!

by Anonymous 2 months ago

I get your point and it's great when they help but the roads being full of unnecessarily large trucks is bad for the environment and bad for pedestrian safety

by Gissellewindler 2 months ago

Is there data to suggest they hit more people than other cars?

Looking at emo kids who have no idea who the Misfits are.

by Anonymous 2 months ago

Misfits weren't emo. There was no emo. Emo appropriated the misfits.

by Howellgeovanni 2 months ago

We call them pavement princesses but to each their own. As long as they don't act like they take it in the woods it's all good.

My girlfriend has a lot of shirts from bands she doesn't regularly listen to. I take her to a lot of shows that I want to see where she doesn't know much about the lineup. And if she likes a set, she'll buy a shirt. She literally cannot name 5 songs but she is still financially supporting the band and their art.

by Anonymous 2 months ago

That's front page material

by Anonymous 2 months ago

Sounds like you can't afford to have a small penis my friend.

by Anonymous 2 months ago

Op over here with a huge hog. Just doesn't get it.

by Anonymous 2 months ago

Also! Lifted trucks aren't as good for hauling heavy things. Lifted trucks are good for offroading, because it can help increase clearance. My truck isn't lifted, but the clearance is still very good for going through some pretty crazy terrain. Sometimes I feel bad for buying a truck, and driving one, but I bought it for towing & go into some areas with rough terrain often enough. I think about switching vehicles often. A smaller vehicle is a lot more convenient in so many ways.

by Anonymous 2 months ago

I know this clown didn't just compare wearing a shirt to being a danger to everyone on the road

by Anonymous 2 months ago

i'm ragging more on the trucks than the shirts tbh

by Anonymous 2 months ago

Fair but that's a horrible comparison

by Anonymous 2 months ago

Because it's not a comparison. It's an analogy. OP is drawing similar characteristics from band shirts to emphasize those of trucks, while acknowledging that trucks and shirts are completely different things

by Anonymous 2 months ago

Analogies are literally comparisons between two things. Sorry to inform you.

by Anonymous 2 months ago

"a comparison of two otherwise unlike things based on resemblance of a particular aspect". Ex: "Life is like a box of chocolates". We know life isn't literally a container of sweets. But this is highlighting the unpredictable and different aspects of our lives, much like the assorted selection of chocolate that comes in boxes.

by Anonymous 2 months ago

Doesnt matter how you want to call it. It's a bad analogy. A tshirt is a tshirt it doesnt really matter what you print on it. Vehicles are wildly different based on their type. Trying to draw an analogy just downplays a lot how stupid it is to buy a truck if you dont need it.

by Consistent-Hurry7717 2 months ago

OP isn't comparing a fashion choice to driving a truck. OP is drawing on the premise of self-image and desired perception from other people. Yes, these two things are OBJECTIVELY different but they share one small characteristic

by Anonymous 2 months ago

Dude, noone is arguing that this does not fit the definition of an analogy (or even comparison), just that the analogy is bad. Because it doesnt do a good job at conveying OPs message. Usually these figures are used to support an opinion. This analogy would just downplay it.

by Consistent-Hurry7717 2 months ago

I like this analogy though. Some people wear band shirts because they think it makes them look cool and edgy but they don't engage with the band's art. In the same way that truck drivers like the aesthetics of large trucks without using much of the features that differentiates from regular cars. Prioritizing aesthetics over action is to be a poser.

by Anonymous 2 months ago

The primary difference is that one costs thousands of dollars and the other costs at worst hundreds.

by Anonymous 2 months ago

I do neither lmao? And tbh from the people that own these sorts of rigs that I know, they are doing fine in the dick department lmao. Also lifting a full size truck is explicitly stupid for 95 percent of applications, off road and hauling included.

by Anonymous 2 months ago

and how would you know how big their dicks are, good sir?

by Anonymous 2 months ago

I blew em?

by Anonymous 2 months ago

aye, fair enough

by Anonymous 2 months ago

Not unpopular.

by Goodwintierra 2 months ago

what's so hard about minding your own business?

by Anonymous 2 months ago

publicly complaining about other people's inconsequential choices distracts me from my crippling existential dread

by Anonymous 2 months ago

damn this is more self aware than I was expecting, good job.

by Strange_Bathroom 2 months ago

It's an opinion. We all have them.

by Goodwintierra 2 months ago

Some of these trucks are genuinely unsafe to have driving around, they take up more space and are not able to see their surroundings as well as a regular car.

by Anonymous 2 months ago

Its worse actuallly

by Key_Education7369 2 months ago

If a shirt cost $50k then yes, exactly like that.

by Anonymous 2 months ago

Yeah, lifted trucks kinda suck for hauling, being that the bed is higher.

by Assunta34 2 months ago

It is about a billion times worse.

by FormalFit5952 2 months ago

I agree with your rant, but it's a popular opinion.

by Anonymous 2 months ago

I agree. I live in a city with a large military base. Rarely, you see people in giant trucks hauling a cord of wood, and I'm like "Okay. They're using that truck for what it's designed for.". But most of the time, it's a lame-ass with a shiny, jacked-up truck who drives 3 Km to work and thinks it compensates for their lack of personality. OP is right, as I know the exact kind og people they're talking about.

by Anonymous 2 months ago

....is this an unpopular opinion? It seems like a more logical equivalent to the argument that big truck=tiny peenor

by Anonymous 2 months ago

Or like having pierced nips and not showing anyone them. Or like having tattoos that you don't show anyone.

by bentongreenfeld 2 months ago

No. It's a purse.

by Kendra87 2 months ago

Eh, you'll crush way fewer people to death in your t-shirt

by benedict61 2 months ago

I think obnoxiously uplifted trucks are dumb, but would this not apply to every type of vehicle? I presume you also think that anyone who owns a sports car is a poser unless they are racing it?

by Terrible-Heart 2 months ago

the same as wearing a shirt for a band you don't listen to So it's totally okay? I wouldn't care about the shirt thing. So trucks are fine...?

by Jarrod06 2 months ago

Oh, thank god someone is gatekeeping lifted trucks. What a bold stance. My hero.

by Hot_Doughnut_1069 2 months ago

it ain't much, but it's honest work

by Anonymous 2 months ago

People aren't allowed to have or do something just because they think it looks cool?

by Anonymous 2 months ago

As long as you concede to the fact that many people on the internet will immediately obsess over the size of your penis once they see the thing you just think is cool

by Maverick45 2 months ago

You have to listen to a band to understand them; you don't need to haul something in order to understand a lifted truck, and that's where the analogy falls apart here. Now if you don't understand lifted trucks and drive one regularly, that's a different story, but it's perfectly valid to drive one just because you like that style of vehicle. That said, I used to drive a diesel pickup truck (never towed anything but would sometimes move stuff with it) which was stock height, and I never lifted it. I'm not personally into the look of anything lifted past a few inches above stock anyway.

by Swimming-Alps 2 months ago

Or maybe they like the shirt and that's okay; just like it's okay your dad walks around in dresses and shows up with face mayo at his night job at the donkey farm.

by Anonymous 2 months ago

Nah. There is a difference between paying a dollar at a thrift store for a shirt of a band you don't like to wear ironically and paying tens of thousands of dollars for an oversized vehicle because you are insecure.

by Everette07 2 months ago

"insecure" about what? lol. More people are insecure about the music they listen to (lots of people secretly like Nickelback and Creed) than they are about driving a truck. Or... some people just like what they like.

by Comfortable_Park_433 2 months ago

.. And? People wanna seem cool, so what, lmao, it doesn't affect me nor you, why should we care?
