it's not the fault of production companies, i believe its due to the fact that we're so desensitized of violence and horror itself. you can literally find decapitating videos on instagram

There is a lot of junk but there are some bangers. For example, immaculate and infinitely pool are some of my all time favorites.

Yup. I agree. It's so bad. Jump scares, house ghosts, etc. There is a nearly infinite world of potential horror that isn't explored in film regularly. Most of the genre is garbage.
