+56 People who value the life of their pets over a strangers life seem perfectly normal to me, amirite?

Yeah, I dont think this is that unpopular. My pets will always come before the life of a stranger. And even the lives of the majority of people I know in person.

Personally, I value the things/people/animals I love over the things/people/animals I don't. If I was in a burning building and could only save my pet or some stranger I know nothing about, I'm picking my pet

Maybe it's because we love and know a pet but don't know the stranger. Maybe it depends on the situation. In what situation do we need to value a strangers life?

I think if I had time to consider, I wouldn't value my dog's life over a human. It would be terribly painful, but usually a human life is more important than an animal's. However, if I only have a split second to react, I think I would choose my dog because I'd be reacting through emotion and not reason. I love my dog about as much as anyone can love something and I don't think I'd be able to stay rational. Either way, I'm going to have a very unpleasant memory for the rest of my life.

Yeah which is why we need to curb immigration to keep our pets safe
