Daylight saving time is bad for us and should be abolished. amirite?
by Anonymous1 month ago
Accurate but not unpopular. Every year there is a push to abolish it and it will eventually happen.

About 20 US states passed a law to move forward with permanent DST, if Congress were ever to allow it. I think DST is very popular in the US.

Standard time is better for our circadian rhythms
by Anonymous1 month ago
Nope. They tried. People were pissed. Also we a leaving DST for standard time, which is better

I think the majority of people prefer it because they think they'll magically get more sunlight during the winter ... when in reality the hours of sunlight stay the same, it just shifts the sunrise and sunsets ... It wont be light out at 7PM during the winter LOL

Well daylight saving time ends in the winter. It's in effect spring-fall. So during the winter months you're getting the real sunlight times.

Yup, my point exactly. People want to keep DST, not the other way around. And every expert cautions against keeping DST

As a software guy, I completely agree. Daylight Savings Time should be abolished.
by Anonymous1 month ago
I think it should just stay at standard time. I couldn't imagine how it must be for those who don't live or work in an area that doesn't do DST to do business with places in other time zones that do.

On one hand, it'll get brighter earlier. On the other hand, it'll get darker sooner.

Why can't we just tell time the way the sun intended?

Standard time🧐
by Anonymous1 month ago
Not even remotely unpopular.
by Anonymous1 month ago
Wrong. The vast majority of people prefer DST over Standard time.

Wrong kid

And the best part (actually, it's the worst part, in reality) is that everyone prefers DST which is proven to be the worst one ... all because they want it to be light as late as possible Enjoy it being dark at 7-8 AM in January and possibly later depending on the time zones ... in think the more west you go, the later the sunrises are (i'm in the eastern time zone, so 8 AM sunrises would be the latest)

Who are we to dictate time?

LMFAO... To cancel DST has been in the works for at least 25 years

Well, it ends tomorrow, so you get your wish...for 6 months

The only reason I have heard which makes sense is children walk to school by themselves and it prevents it from being dark when they are walking in the mornings. Which would reduce car accidents with kids. But they could fall back and just leave it there. But then I know adults would hate it because it would be dark when they finish work. Depends what latitude you are too. I believe Hawaii doesn't do this. Because why would you if you are at the equator. Sunrise sunset won't change very much throughout the year

I used to like that it's still light at 9 pm in the summer but a few years ago I was trying to put my kid to sleep at like 7:30 and she like it's still light out (she was like 4 years old at the time).

Team standard time! And the one that aligns with true noon and favored by sleep scientists
by Anonymous1 month ago
Disagree. it's better that kids aren't waking up and going to school in the dark.
