One thing doesnt have anything to do with the other. Adults using costumes and going party doesnt mean children cant go trick or treating. And btw, thinking that dressing sexy for a party makes you a slut speaks a lot about your view of women and no ofense, but you look like a flanderized stereotype of religious conservative.

how would this be enforced? would there be a no adult parties on halloween rule or something? what about halloweekend parties? this opinion feels impossible to carry out
by Anonymous1 month ago
I'd have to disagree. There is also a great amount of adults who don't dress provocatively and don't commit crimes. While my daughter is a baby and doesn't understand anything yet, my niece always asked the adults of the family to dress up with her despite having friends to go with. She enjoys when we walk up to doors with her because she feels safer. While trick or treating I see many parents and older siblings dressed up without being revealing too. Lastly, someone shot a gun because they wanted to shoot a gun, not because adults were partying in costumes.

I dress slutty on Halloween.( I was Tarzan) But pretending it's not dressing slutty or enticing or provocative is a whole nother level. I like showing off and feeling good about myself. I like when others can show off and feel good about themselves. I totally disagree with op but not owning the sexuality of the evening is wild. At least to me.

But pretending it's not dressing slutty or enticing or provocative is a whole nother level. Showing skin doesn't make you slutty or provocative any more than wearing a tail and ears makes you the local stray

It doesn't make you slutty to show skin nor is it an invitation for certain behaviors. You might be trying to envoke a feeling. Doesn't mean other people are. And you don't get to decide or speak for someone else's intent.
by Danielaliza1 month ago
Of course. I don't get to speak for others intent. But for the majority it's absolutely true. Corset: I want to show off my cleavage Booty shorts: I want to show off my ass Loincloth: I want to show off my package Extravagant costume: I have style No shirt: I want to show off my chest No effort costume: I don't care Leggings and high heels: I want to show off my legs Extremely specific costume: I like x Matching costumes: I love my partner Suit and tie/gown/dress: I am serious and sophisticated Could choosing to wear less clothing simply mean I'm hot? Absolutely. Could choosing to wear more mean I'm cold? Absolutely. In general, however, we are all communicating by what we say as much as what we wear. Do not put words in my mouth and say that dressing slutty is asking for it. We all deserve respect, dignity, and equality. No questions asked
by Strackekathryne1 month ago
That's a lot of "I" talk. Which is fine for you. But clothing doesn't "communicate" anything. I personally don't communicate with my clothes. Showing skin isn't an indicator of character or self worth and doesn't communicate anything. Your views are flawed when it comes to generalities. Not the way you look at yourself.

maybe try having fun on halloween instead of being grumpy? 😭🙏🏻

god forbid people dress up and "go to work." We should all just be laboring away in our gray uniforms

I remember the days when only kids went trick-or-treating. In fact, we went by ourselves, with no parents standing on the sidewalk watching us. It was great! Too young to go trick-or-treating? No problem! Your mom made your older siblings take you. (The little ones got tired early, so didn't crimp anyone's style for long.) However, I like the fact all ages are into Halloween now. There were no Halloween decorations on houses when we were kids. Now the decorations give me a chuckle and make Halloween more fun. I get a kick out of seeing adults in costumes, too. It sounds like your real issue is with some sense of outraged morality, as in "How dare women dress up in costumes I find slutty?" "How dare adults party all night?" If you want to be the old person standing on their front lawn and brandishing a cane while ranting about the immorality of the world, you have that right. You'll be standing there alone. The rest of us will be enjoying the changes.

Wearing a certain outfit doesn't make someone a slut. That's you finding excuses for your inability to view women as anything other than sexual objects. Maybe instead of imagining up a nonexistent problem, you should take some time to work on yourself.

at 31 October it's bound to be cold. Why would people even dress scantily
by Anonymous1 month ago
It's currently 83 where I live. Who, precisely, is bundling up when it's nearly 90 outside?
by Holiday_Archer1 month ago
fair enough, it's just that I'm in the uk so it's colder 👍
by Anonymous1 month ago
I don't know how old you are, but I was a kid in the 80s and adults had Halloween parties back then. My parents didn't go to them because they had two small children, but they existed. And sorry not sorry, you're gonna have to pry my unicorn headband and tiara out of my cold dead hand. The clients get a kick out of it at work, and the 700 kids that hit our neighborhood seem to like it. The dog also has a unicorn costume and it's ADORABLE. The world needs more joy, not less.

NO FUN FOR ADULTS, BOOOOOO
by Robertaromaguer1 month ago
I agree man this drinking not good now. I don't feel good and there's a goat in here biting my fingers but I can't even move too much because I fall instantly. I don't even know why I'm here. I remember drinking competition. I need to go home, help.

Bah Humbug!
by Anonymous1 month ago
So you gonna send a bunch of kids alone out at night, yeah no way. If adults dress provocatively, then that's not a reason for all adults to be banned.
by Anonymous1 month ago
Who said anything about sending them out alone? Good lord.
by saraimarvin1 month ago
Ok, you didn't say anything about it. But if adults Accompany them, some of your pointed out flaws still stand, like adults dressing provocatively
