+29 Playing Christmas music in retail stores during the month of November ought to be illegal. amirite?

The difference is that I'd like to still enjoy Christmas. The rest of my year is just monotonous and terrible. Why can't I have one holiday?

I worked at Kohl's in college and to this day whenever I hear any of the songs that played on an endless loop when I was working I have a Vietnam flashback lol

Yep. Used to have to listen to Jump! on repeat in 1996. To this day, I can't listen to that song!

Fun thing, Xmas songs cause me headaches. No other music does it, just Xmas songs. When I worked retail I was fine listening to the standard crap day in and day out, but Xmas was literal torture for me until I figured out how to do a side ponytail to cover a single earbud to listen to whatever I wanted and down it out

December 23 is too early for Christmas music and December 26 is too late.

This opinion is extremely popular with retail employees

Blame Mariah Carey. She's the current ambassador of Christmas that thaws out every Nov 1.

I worked at a place that had an 8 track cassette on repeat for the whole 12 hours I worked each day. There is a reason I am a humbug about Christmas and Christmas music in general.

by Emotional_Passage 1 month ago

What long gone age was that?

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Early 2000s thru mid 2000s. I am pretty sure they still use cassette tapes due to not being able to change out the playing device without major cost.

What do you mean? It's basically Christmas!

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Amen. Christmas starts after Thanksgiving, specifically when Santa is shown at the Thanksgiving Day parade. Until then, I want to see autumn leaves and pumpkins

Christmas starts dec 24. It ends at noon on dec 25.

Jingle Bella on November 31st? Straight to jail.

My workplace doesn't do Christmas music because none of us actually want to listen to it (and I don't think one of my bosses wants to listen to me cry about it). One year, we did play some, but it only lasted like an hour into my shift before I was asking for salvation.

God I'm so blessed to live in a country where this is actually something that people even consider an "issue" that requires some sort of policy intervention lmfao.

We're lucky to have that problem.

Playing Mariah Carey during December should be illegal.

I used to slowly turn down the volume of the music over time til the whole place was Muzak less. It was the best because my management couldn't figure out what had changed.

They should play the music on Dec 1

Take comfort in the fact that you don't live in the Philippines. They celebrate Christmas full throttle for 3 months straight.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

I'm fine with it starting the week of Thanksgiving, but not before.

Very popular opinion

Bahumbug to you, too!

by Anonymous 1 month ago

How angry do you get when they play them in July?

by Stock-Lecture-4926 1 month ago

I wanna sue for the violation to my ears.

The thing about playing Christmas music that it has to be done slowly. You can play one or two songs here and there in the beginning of November, but mostly regular radio. As it gets closer and closer to Christmas, then you ramp it up. But still don't play Christmas exclusively until, like, 3 days before.

Its the Holiday Season so you should expect holiday music lol If it triggers you that much shop online. And listen to whatever music you want. Also retail workers are used to it. Before Christmas they were listening to Monster Mash 10 times a shift and outside the holiday season they are listening to the same 5 pop songs over and over. They're fine lmao

I'm decorating my house this weekend for Christmas. I love Christmas time. But I do find the Christmas music annoying. Especially when it's on a constant loop.
