-44 I am so over cyclists thinking they should have a share of the road, amirite?

by Anonymous 1 month ago

They don't just believe they are entitled to share the road: they are LEGALLY entitled to share the road in most states.

by angelodietrich 1 month ago

I mean they technically are entitled to?

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Public transit is easy and readily available. Not to mention sidewalks.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Not sure what city you're in but in my city, the biking can be a lot faster in many scenarios than public transit, and it isn't legal to ride bikes on sidewalks (you'll get a ticket).

by Low_Tip_5519 1 month ago

So where do motorbikes sit? Should they be using the pavement?

by Popular_Bat 1 month ago

I own and drive a motorcycle, never gotten in an accident

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Even more disturbing to have this sentiment as a motorcyclist.

by Frosty_Confusion_564 1 month ago

If you find it that challenging to navigate around bicycles, you probably shouldn't have your license

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Yeah, you sound like you are struggling, maybe invest in some lesson?

by Anonymous 1 month ago

You know what makes it easier for motorists? Sidewalks

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Yeah, I hear what you're saying. You need it to be easier because you're struggling and you find it hard.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Public transit is easy and readily available. You either live in downtown london or in a fantasy

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Yawn, you can afford a used car or a basic car, again I didn't ask America to look like this, but yet here we are.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Bikes are easy and readily accessible. Not to mention roads.

by Frosty_Confusion_564 1 month ago

Tons of wide open space on a sidewalk

by Anonymous 1 month ago

No they need to use the side walk or make bigger sidewalks

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Make bigger sidewalks lol you need to get out of fantasy land

by Anonymous 1 month ago

What's worse? Hitting a pedestrian or getting hit by a car?

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Bicycles are too fast to share the sidewalk with walking pedestrians. That's why they are legally allowed on the road

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Tons of wide open space, with handicapped people, business advertisements, patio tables for restaurants, random children waking around, construction issues taking out parts of the sidewalk, sidewalks that just dead end directly into rough terrain. Yeah. Sound sooooo much safer than the road.

by Frosty_Confusion_564 1 month ago

This is why Americans are fat. I love having moved to a country where cycling to work is considered a healthy and sociable thing to do.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Err what? They use the bike lanes and not the actual road

by Popular_Bat 1 month ago

It's illegal to ride on the pavement so that isn't an option. No idea how a road bike is meant to handle off road trails

by Popular_Bat 1 month ago

In my area, you can't ride on the sidewalks if you are older than 12.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Neat, public transit is an option

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Unless it isn't

by Full_Discussion 1 month ago

Where should we put all the pedestrians on the sidewalk? Should they simply get in a car?

by Frosty_Confusion_564 1 month ago

Uh, commuting? People have to get where they're going, the bike riders I know hate riding on busy streets but they have to get to work or run errands like everyone else. That's not an excuse for people taking bicycles anywhere it's illegal to do so, but regular streets are for everyone.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Cool, they can buy a car or take public transportation

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Just buy a car is not an option for everyone and many cities don't have adequate public transportation. If you're not able to share the road safely then you shouldn't be driving.

by Full_Discussion 1 month ago

All cities have public transport, you just don't want to wake up earlier

by Anonymous 1 month ago

let me guess, a Harris supporter?

by thurman65 1 month ago

People who use a bicycle to get to work use the bike lanes, which are not made for cars and should not be used by cars.

by BusinessAardvark6581 1 month ago

Cool a sidewalk does just the same

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Wait. Have you not seen a city that has a bike trail? They are shared by pedestrians and bikes. But they are placed where a sidewalk would normally be I think that is OP's point

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Neat, that will take a massive change. I'm not riding a bike 30 miles to work

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Just take public transportation

by Full_Discussion 1 month ago

But you don't know how to drive it so take the bus.

by Full_Discussion 1 month ago

I can drive just fine, you don't know how to be responsible, to wake up early to catch the bus, walk and so on.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

I take the bus every single day.

by Full_Discussion 1 month ago

Great, a perfect sidewalk is available, and if it isn't we should be investing it.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

It isn't. Those are for pedestrians. We don't want bike traffic where people are trying to walk. It's inconvenient and unsafe. Plus there aren't always sidewalks and not all sidewalks are flat. The ones in my neighborhood are uneven, you couldn't bike there even if you were a big enough asshole to try it. If you want to invest in it then go ahead but you could also learn to drive better

by Full_Discussion 1 month ago

Take public transit. You keep saying it's readily available.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Sorry I can a basic ass car

by Anonymous 1 month ago

I use it to get to work, so I don't spend 1/3 of my income on a vehicle. I pay the same taxes you do. Cry about it

by Vast-Excitement6887 1 month ago

Cool, a perfectly good sidewalk does just the same, cry about it, also I shouldn't have to risk my life so you can ride a bike

by Anonymous 1 month ago

How are you risking your life?

by emardemmalee 1 month ago

Seems....entitled , don't you think? A cyclist could make the same argument in reverse.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Why are you willing to die on that hill?

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Well they can share the road but I will say they usually don't follow the rules of the road.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

What rules? I run red lights and text in school zones.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

I definitely prefer biking on the trails. Some cities have a great supply of trails or side street options. Seattle for example. You really want to avoid being around cars as a cyclist because the danger is immense. I really think a lot of cities can just widen sidewalks slightly and draw a lane for bikes and pedestrians. Seen this in a lot of cities.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Saying that bikes should stay on bike paths is like saying cars should stay on the highway. The road belongs to everyone, so wash the sand out of your hooha.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Nah the road belongs to people that can keep up with the flow of traffic, bikes can't.

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Sounds like a you problem
