+2 Shuffling your spotify likes is the way, amirite?

That would work if Spotify shuffle actually worked. I swear it uses some algorithm to replay the same stuff over and over. I have over 8k songs liked and hear the same 50 songs constantly

I feel like I'm the only one that this doesn't happen to. I have 1.5k songs and I don't hear too many repeats. Has anyone tried tracking the shuffle to see if this is true?

I don't have problem but I got 950 songs on shuffle tho. Sometimes it prioritizes songs I added that day though

It's true, shuffle is often not a true random feature that reproduces the same results. Can't prove that Spotify is doing it (though im 1000% convinced they are) but people figured it out in ITunes years ago. You want a real random song order try sorting your Playlist by song title alphabetical.

There is in fact some setting to turn on "true shuffle". It has some algorithm, dont know what it does exactly, but it also makes sure you dont have the same song you heard just two songs ago. It may be settings > playback > automix. If you turn that pff, you will hear the true 950 songs. Used to have that problem too, dont anymore s3once i turned it off. You might want to google check if i recall the right setting.

That is not what Automix is....its not a playlist creating tool. It just smooths out transitions between certain songs on certain playlists.

It's definitely happened to me (I like writing down some of the really fun ones. Currently my favorite is Invisible String by Taylor Swift -> Destroya by MCR), and I find it funny too. Their algorithm absolutely does not work as intended T-T. I've also noticed that when a bigger artist gets in trouble for something, the algorithm suddenly plays their songs again after not playing them at all for months. But that may truly be coincidence lol.

Everyone single shuffle feature I ever used, all the way back to the days of mp3 players, shuffle is always the same alternate song order. Shuffle never shuffled.

I agree with this. I made a playlist in 2009 right about when Spotify became a thing I believe, and I've just kept adding songs to that one playlist and never made another. I'm very particular about what I like, but what I like varies wildly in genre and type, so making vibe lists doesn't make sense for me. It's 1564 songs and 88 hr 7min long.
