+39 In The Heights is a better musical than Hamilton, amirite?

100% agreed and it's not even close for me.

I might be slightly biased because I played Usnavi this year in my school musical…

I mean, Hamilton was the theatrical equivalent to pop-music. Like, nobodies listening to Hamilton or Sabrina Carpenter for the complexity.

Eh, I see that. But in a sense I see In The Heights as more of an equivalent to pop music in certain songs, but I see where you're coming from.

Yeah, I'd take your word over mine. I'm a classical musician in a contemporary theatrical pit, so my opinion aren't exactly informed--I'm not entirely sure what qualifies as "pop" because I'm on the tuba lmao.

I love It's All Happening! My school's show choir performed that song a looooong time ago before I was old enough to join.

It's really a clever show. Better than the movie in its own way.

Maybe, but it didn't translate well into a movie. I couldn't get past 30 minutes. The stage performance of Hamilton was filmed, and that was a pleasure to watch.

Agreed! Like I said, the movie did not do the musical justice. As much as I enjoyed the Hamilton filmed performance, I can only wish they did that for In The Heights.

To me this is the most unpopular opinions of the unpopular opinions to me that I have seen here and couldn't disagree more with you. BUT I am glad to see someone sharing opinions on musicals cause I never see that here

I can see that. In Hamilton, there's only a handful of songs I can really get into, but I feel like I can get into almost every ITH song.
