Someone claiming they're a 3 doesn't necessarily mean they actually are. Same goes for people who claim they're a 10, which by the way doesn't automatically equalise to them being ugly or thinking way too high of themselves, it just means they like their looks. Are you seriously trying to tell us that the majority of population is ugly and only a small percentage of people are actually attractive? By which standards? Why wouldn't it be the opposite? You obviously hate seeing people with confidence and it shows.

How do you know they are self aware without seeing a picture of them? They could 1/10 and they are overrating themself or they could be an 8/10 and they are underrating themself.

yup, but being humble in my opinion is way more realistic, better to underestimate than overestimate. And as most people rate themselves above 5, if someone rates themselves as 3 I am inclined to believe that they compare themselves to those supposed 7s, and probably taking more into account than just not wanting to be left out

It's more a weird problem that people have with the rate out of 10 system, for some reason people almost never use numbers 1-4 in the rate out of 10 system. If somethings bad they give it a 5/10 it's stupid, I don't think most people can handle a whole 10 numbers properly, I think it's much easier to score things accurately on a scale of 5 don't ask me why it just works better

People would still avoid 1+2. Ultimately nobody wants to think they are, or say others are, below average or extreme low outliers on the ugly scale. It's like the large, extra large and jumbo sizes of space diapers so male astronauts don't have to ask for a "small".

yes, but if we decide that others perception is the determinant of the number, then at least in terms of males looking at females we have a bell curve, based on dating apps data, and one other study I can't recall. with an average around 5. But I will grant you that, the average for males judged by females is much lower than 5. That being said, the average is not 7, that I can tell you

Yeah obviously most people think they are above average (because they are bias towards themselves) but it doesn't mean they actually are. But that's not an unpopular opinion, that's common sense.

well, I hear a lot of backlash here, seems unpopular enough. and if most believe they are above average, then saying that most of them are not is indeed unpopular. Plus, popular opinions are the good soothing ones, that affirm positive self image, this is unpopular if only for the reason that most people don't like the negative opinions

Considering any woman above 4 can pretty much sleep with any men above 9 on looks easily , then if you put women on mens "1-10 scale" most women are above 10
