Babish is doing less cooking and being exponential more smug. amirite?

Calling the channel a "Culinary Universe" is still hilarious to me. I will say, the ranking videos are pretty spot on. The jarred sauce one did lead to me switching things up.

Babish was partially responsible for getting me into cooking so I have a soft spot for his videos. And to be fair, you can only do so much "this food from this TV show/movie." I enjoyed his peanut butter ranking but I can see how those videos can get old fast.

Anime with Alvin. I watched Alvin before he got into the Babish Universe so I'm excited to see him succeed. Solah, too—I know her from her Bon Appetite days before all that blew up. Glad to see her get that Babish money even if the episode(s) with the two of them where they play some kind of game was a little odd.

I'm not into Babish anymore. I think most people into cooking at home aren't into him. If you enjoy cooking go watch someone else. It isn't really the same but Max Miller from Tasting History has a similar vibe as old Babish. More down to earth and informative, not big about ego, more historical recipes than popculture.

Agreed. I'm nowhere near pro level as a cook, and I'm rarely tempted to go out to eat. When I am, it's for something that involves a ton of prep work, like bibimbap with traditional Korean side dishes. Nearly anything else, I like my chances of either beating a dining establishment on quality of getting close enough to not be worth the drive, the waiting, and the expense.
