+52 Watching TV shows week by week is better than binge-watching, amirite?

Hard agree. It's great reading theories, analysis, reviews, and such. A weekly format, I feel, keeps it in the minds of the public longer and it doesn't mean the show just dies off the day after.

All shows arent that deep. Only a few select shows are good enough to do those things.

This just applies to society in general now. Nobody has anything to look forward to anymore. Everything needs to be now and completed in entirety. That's probably why shows now reduced the episodes down to 10 max, other than cost reasons.

People look forward to shows and movies coming out however people don't have the time to wait to watch a single show to come out every week and watch it live or risk spoilers online, just an exhausting experience.

Its your life. You want things to look forward to set some goals and work towards. TV isn't that serious

I like to be immersed into a story. I actually tend to lose interest if not binged. Considering some shows would take more than a year to watch if you only watch weekly, you will forget half the things that happened. I like having context, being able to remember details that might be important that follow up on an earlier clue, understand the characters, plot, etc...

I think they mean shows that are currently releasing for their season on a weekly basis. They're not saying to watch Breaking Bad across 72 weeks.

Completely agree. I wish more shows did this.

As Jimmy Kimmel eloquently said regarding 'Lost' ...Delayed gratification

100%. The entire experience of watching Lost week by week is what made it as great as it was. Having time to digest the events of the episode, think about the mysteries, theorize on fan sites etc was something that elevated Lost beyond just being another very good show to being a cultural phenomenon. Binging Lost is objectively an inferior experience.

Yeah I agree. I can't stand binging shows.. I lose interest to quickly.

I think it depends on the show.

I like waiting until a season is done (all at once, or weekly for a year, or whatever), and then binging 2-3 episodes at a time. But whatever works for you

by Anonymous 6 days ago

Me too. Nothing better when two or more shows release weekly. Always something to look forward too after work. I do think the average person prefers all episodes at once so do think this is unpopular

Love to discuss... But people online are particularly annoying about it when their needs aren't met.

My ADHD ass cant focus on just one show for hours i gotta evntually change it out

I'm kinda indifferent either way, but I do prefer to watch a couple episodes at once since I can only watch stuff at like 1 AM-ish when everyone's asleep.

I love the way Arcane is doing it on Netflix: Three episodes a week for the 9-episode season, each group of 3 being one distinct act of the story (often separated by a short time skip or something). It's a good middleground between binging while still keeping the fun of anticipating where the story goes next.

Sure, but you don't need to bing watch a show even if all the episodes are available although I'm sure it works that specific show as you describe, most shows benefit from a full release rather than weekly releases.

I miss being able to do that, it not only prevents you from going through a show too soon and it gives you something to look forward to during the week!
