Just depends on what you need. If you need a lot of pocket space or want to insert knee pads then jeans definitely aren't the best option. Theirs a few benefits of denim but the two primary ones over canvas are breathability and how soft they can be. Their aren't a ton of benefits over straight synthetic pants other than style

Jeans that fit just right are hard to find but are the best Stretchy jeans, make up that difference but will never be as good.

Then you're just crazy. Properly fitted non-stretch jeans are so much better than stretch jeans. They last longer, don't stretch out with use, and are just as comfortable. I have worn some that are a size or two too small and it's definitely not enjoyable.

Most people, At least where I'm from (Southeast US) people don't see them as primarily out on the town pants. They see them either as basic casual clothes, or as something you wear for manual labor. It's either a minor annoyance if they get dirty, or it doesn't matter cause they'd just work pants After all they were originally designed to be work pants
