-37 Rappers always ruin songs they feature on, no exceptions, amirite?

by Anonymous 6 days ago

Sounds like you just hate rap. But at the end of the day these are pop songs that are trying to make more money off of their moment in the spotlight, so they do a remix with a rapper because why not?

by maxine18 6 days ago

The good ones feel like the exceptions, like Kanye in American Boy. Most of the times it sounds like the rapper is just collecting a paycheck.

by Anonymous 6 days ago

It's true for a lot of rappers. They can't mesh well with a mainstream/pop sound. But the ones that do, get called sell outs from the rap community and labeled "not a real rapper"… examples are pitbull and Florida

by Anonymous 6 days ago

Rap isn't pop and it shouldn't be.

by Inner_Truth_7890 6 days ago

I agree. Wilson's rap in the bridge of Rebecca Black's Friday almost ruined the song.

by Anonymous 6 days ago

If you agree with op, then it didn't almost ruin the song. It DID not ruin the song , no exceptions

by Anonymous 6 days ago

That makes sense. But also it's just such an amazing song that it couldn't be ruined by even the worst rap.

by Anonymous 6 days ago

What about bands / songs where rap is a part of for example Linkin Park?

by Anonymous 6 days ago

You just don't like rap. Not really unpopular. Tons of people don't like rap.

by Anonymous 6 days ago

Man Kanye is the only reason ET is worth listening to. His part is hilarious.

by Anonymous 6 days ago

Hood gone love it featuring Kendrick Lamar is pretty epic

by Calm-Guide5762 6 days ago

Numb by Linkin Park ft. Jay Z is pretty cool and I'm not even a huge fan of Jay Z. Oh, what about that Bartender song? I think the rap version adds more than the straight up version I see what you're saying OP, but you're painting with some pretty broad strokes there.

by Internal-Music7696 6 days ago

Linkin Park is the worst example you could use to prove this point. The band has a guy in it who raps. They know how to build music around a rap. I think op is painting with a broad brush too but when it fails it's because the feature is out of place.

by Content_Strawberry70 6 days ago

I kind of expected people to hate that reference lol, I'll let my "Bartender" reference do the heavy lifting for me then XD Ultimately agreed tho, those were just the first two songs to pop into my head.

by Internal-Music7696 6 days ago

Nostalgic for me, but it's not like I brush my teeth to the song. Besides Bartender, it was the other most popular rap feature I could think of. Guess I'll do 20 pushups or something for penance

by Internal-Music7696 6 days ago

That's already a rap song though

by Individual-Rip 6 days ago

Also the good part in bad blood

by Anonymous 6 days ago

Oh yes, especially Maroon 5 - Girls

by Delfina07 6 days ago

Oh come on now. This is a complete troll. ET without Kanye is soulless and I'm no fan of Perry or West. You may not like rap which is your prerogative. But if I go with your logic than Breakdown by Mariah would be better without bone thugs. Poppycock. JoJo's no apologies without Wiz is mid. Fantasy without ODB. Blasphemy.

by Adventurous-Race1512 6 days ago

We don't get the Alien sex bar without Kanye

Pink Phantom - Gorillaz

by christellewindl 6 days ago

Yeah has this dude even heard of the Gorillaz collaboration with rappers?

by Anonymous 6 days ago

The Gorillaz do not exist in his world.

by Free_Accident 6 days ago

You cant really ruin a maroon 5 song. They are scientifically made to be the exact amount of bland amd irritating needed for almost every radiostation If i didnt hate it id be impressed

by Anonymous 6 days ago

I do roll my eyes every time I hear "I just spent half a mill on a chandelier" during that payphone song though...

by Anonymous 6 days ago

Q Tip rapping in Groove Is In the Heart by Deelite doesn't ruin it at all.

by Anonymous 6 days ago

Eminem on jay z renegade Eminem on don't push me Eminem on patiently waiting

by Anonymous 6 days ago

I'm sure everyone here saying they hate rap also loves eminem.

by Murphy97 6 days ago

The record Collision Course would like a word

by Anonymous 6 days ago

Sounds like all you listen to is pop songs and you only hate pop songs with rap features. There's good examples as well such as Kanye on American Boy , Andre 3k on pink matter

by Anonymous 6 days ago

Yes YES. I love rap music but most of the time when it's one verse shoved into a pop song there's barely any relevance at all to it and comes off as crap

by Anonymous 6 days ago

None of these songs were really ruined I'd say, take Payphone for example, everyone sees that song as a masterpiece.

by Anonymous 6 days ago

Not even close some raopers make pop song ten times better like dababy in levitating polo g in better days and many more

by Anonymous 6 days ago

I like a solid rap verse in a song, what I can't stand is having one lazily jammed in an existing song and having it called a "remix". I heard a particular bad version of we will rock you recently which is a pretty egregious example of what I mean

by Anonymous 5 days ago

That's because they're all mainstream.. Listen to proper rap and your opinion would be different, lol

by Emotional_Try_769 5 days ago

J.I.D on enemy by imagine dragons. Come back after listening to that. If your opinion is the same, then you just hate rap

by Anonymous 5 days ago

What does "getting away from their caretakers mean" yeah sometimes a rap verse doesn't fit the flow but sometimes it does. It really depends.

by Anonymous 5 days ago

Lost all credibility hating on that radioactive feat that Kendrick shouldn't have even done but went all out anyway.

by Inner_Truth_7890 5 days ago

Drake ruined Odio by Romeo Santos. Otherwise it's a beautiful song.

by Anonymous 5 days ago

Coldplay ft. Jay-Z

by Dependent_Body 5 days ago

Generally I agree but I think dark horse slaps

by Background_Corgi 5 days ago

A song great improved by a rap verse? DRk Horse by Katy Perry. I really dig Juicy J's verse in that one.

by Anonymous 5 days ago

Kanye in American Boy?

by Anonymous 5 days ago

Yessss this was gonna be my counter-example as well

by Stiedemanndanny 5 days ago

That's not a rap feature though, Rhianna is the feature on that song

by Anonymous 5 days ago

I don't think you know what auto tune is.....

by Anonymous 5 days ago

Rappers usually ruin their own tracks too tbh

by Anonymous 5 days ago

Rap just existing ruins the world.

by Pretty-Product1621 5 days ago

What is music then?

by Anonymous 5 days ago

Chopin

by Pretty-Product1621 5 days ago

So, long-dead Polish composer is music? Got it

by Anonymous 5 days ago

The fact you think their deadness, their nationality (which you got wrong) and their profession precludes it from your musical palate tells me everything I need to know about you.

by Pretty-Product1621 5 days ago

I think you'll find that I actually said "most pop(ular) music is about as musically complex as a nursery rhyme". You filled in the blanks because it made you so gosh darned mad.

by Pretty-Product1621 5 days ago

sniff acktchewally pushes up glasses what I quoted was more generous to you than the reality: you said rap doesn't even meet the standard of most popular music, which is at a nursery rhyme level. So, egg on your face. Anyway, how does that Billy Madison quote go? "What you just said…"

by Anonymous 5 days ago

You should probably specify you just rappers on pop songs.

Within Temptation ft Xzibit

The Creep (featuring Nicki Minaj and John Waters) does not agree

by zita28 5 days ago

I'm the biggest Kendrick Lamar fan, but his features on pop songs just don't work, man. Maroon 5, Imagine Dragons, Taylor Swift, etc.. Even All the Stars, one of my favorite songs, is kind of ruined by Kendrick's verse.

by godfrey99 5 days ago

I actually really hate features in general. Sometimes they're very natural or even necessary but oftentimes it's just two names people know or someone's friend popping in for one verse in one track. I really really hate albums that are full of features. I would like to hear the artist I actually like for at least 95% of the album. An album loaded with features is easily a lot less than that.

by Content_Strawberry70 5 days ago

I know one song the rap actually is good in, Dark Horse from Katy perry

by OkOrdinary1352 5 days ago

Forget About Dre without Em?

by Anonymous 5 days ago

agree in most cases, but check for example winehouse feat ghostface or crazy in love f. jay-xyz

by Anonymous 5 days ago

you can't ruin something that's already ruined (aka dua lipa music)

by Anonymous 5 days ago

Completely agree. Most rap is terrible, dare I say, it's not really music.

by Pretty-Product1621 5 days ago

Bet you love some Eminem, Mac Miller, Logic, Macklemore etc though

by Individual-Rip 5 days ago

How about you go to someone who likes rap and try talking to him about Macklemore. Pls, just explain to him why Macklemore is such a good rapper and look what happens. =)
