+53 Beauty contests are being done wrong, they don't actually do justice to beauty and don't determine the prettiest contestant. amirite?

by Anonymous 5 days ago

How about get rid of them altogether especially the ones with children. Such a stupid thing

by Sea_Arachnid 5 days ago

Nah, I'd keep the adult ones. People love competing, well let them. But fairly. And NO KIDS.

by Anonymous 5 days ago

We should have Ugly Contests just to be fair.

by Sea_Arachnid 5 days ago

The ugliest people in the world have really been neglected from the spotlight. They deserve a chance to be pitted against each other for-OH WAIT THATS DAYTIME TELEVISION

by Anonymous 5 days ago

Like freak shows?

by Anonymous 5 days ago

But then it's not really a competition. They don't have to do anything other than showing up. Let's have a contest for who's taller, or who has the blondest hair. With makeup and everything else at least they can do something and ‘compete'

by Then-Yard 5 days ago

Let's have a contest for who's taller, or who has the blondest hair. And we have it, it's called Guinness World Records. But we can't measure beauty with a ruler.

by Anonymous 5 days ago

But it's not really a contest, they just certify someone is the tallest alive/ever

by Then-Yard 5 days ago

And that's what id like them to do with who's the most beautiful people.

by Anonymous 5 days ago

Ones with kids are disgusting TBF! all those American kids pageants are very disturbing

by OppositeSame1046 5 days ago

But in your version, what's the part where people compete? Seems like they would just show up and be judged, you're taking away every part of it that has people actively involved in competing.

by Anonymous 5 days ago

Who got luckier with genetics.

by Anonymous 4 days ago

Yea, that would be what you're proposing. And with that, there's no real competition, it's just an assessment.

by Anonymous 4 days ago

And that's what I think it should be

by Anonymous 4 days ago

Ok, but then it's not a competition anymore, just an assessment.

by Anonymous 4 days ago

This mindset of "I don't like a thing, so it's banned!" is Republican brainworm logic. If you don't like beauty pageants, just don't go to beauty pageants.

by Anonymous 4 days ago

Half agree. Agree for adults. Kids pageants shouldn't exist...it's just exploiting your child.

by Medium-Arugula 4 days ago

No, some things are actually bad. Like child pageants, at least the way they're done today. They are damaging to children

by Anonymous 4 days ago

Not going to beauty pageants is banned!

by Anonymous 4 days ago

OP literally said "How about get rid of them altogether".

by Anonymous 4 days ago

They have them, it's called natural pagents. Makeup and hair is toned down. no uniform, but no ball gowns or swimsuits. Sometimes there is a pant suit category. These aren't really televised as they're not as spectacular as a glitzy all out pageant. Leads to the adage - if you don't see it, doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

by Anonymous 4 days ago

Niiiiice, I gotta check them out!

by Anonymous 4 days ago

By my understanding of beauty contests they are more about style and talent with natural beauty just being part of what gets you through the door.

by Reasonable_Radio 4 days ago

And I'd like them to be about natural beauty

by Anonymous 4 days ago

Kathy Morningside told me it was a scholarship program

never seen miss congeniality have you? scene referenced

by Anonymous 4 days ago

Yes.

Let's say we want to find the most delicious food by contest. Should we figure it out by not seasoning, not cooking anything, and just eating everything raw? Or should we try our best to turn the food into the best version of itself?

by Anonymous 4 days ago

Let's say, we do 2 categories - best ingredients, that are either tested raw or cooked the same way, and best recipes/cooking, wich would be the equivalent of a styling contest

by Anonymous 4 days ago

And do you see any contests similar to that format? Because all we care about is the final result. We are trying to find the best tasting, most beautiful in a contest. That's what most people want to know.

by Anonymous 4 days ago

Sounds like OP is window shopping for human skin to make a fancy cape.

by Eastern-Ad 4 days ago

Petah, please?

by Anonymous 4 days ago

Hey! I said a fancy cape!

by Eastern-Ad 4 days ago

I think you wish to make finery with only the best human leather available. I'm not saying I condone your plans, but I do think you would look quite fancy.

by Eastern-Ad 4 days ago

Only thing that's missing are age categories like there are weight categories in combat sports. 20 yo girl has an obvious advantage over a 30 yo woman same as Jake Paul had an advantage in his late 20s over Mike Tyson in his late 50s. The problem is that you are not looking for the "most beautiful one in the world" but the "most beautiful one in each age group." Same problem would come up in the Natural/Artificial category that you are proposing at the end.

Beauty contests aren't just about beauty, they are also about presenting themselves. Competition should be about something that person can work on, can improve themselves. You want to give the award to a person, only because they born to be beautiful?

by Crazy-Appearance176 4 days ago

You want to give the award to a person, only because they born to be beautiful? Yes

by Anonymous 4 days ago

So you want a beauty contest from Soviet Russia?

by ImportantCamp9695 4 days ago

I want a fair competition in raw beauty

by Anonymous 4 days ago

Who cares? Who watches beauty contests?

by Anonymous 4 days ago

Some people do.

by Anonymous 4 days ago

Whaaa? Dude. I'm a woman, married with kids, what the hhhhhell are you taking about?

by Anonymous 4 days ago

A female predator I guess

by Anonymous 4 days ago

Who, me?

by Anonymous 4 days ago

Nah we need uglyness contests instead so i could win em all

by Anonymous 4 days ago

They are done right. The purpose is to make money and they do that well.

by raoul42 4 days ago

Then we should separate beauty contest and beauty show

by Anonymous 4 days ago

Ok. I still want it to be done the way that shows natural beauty.

by Anonymous 4 days ago

And I want companies to be honest, CEOs to care about the environment and people being paid equally... But that's just not how things work.

by raoul42 4 days ago

And all of that would be... What's the word... Right! That would be the right way to do things. And being dishonest, unequal and not caring is the wrong way:) and yes, this is the way it works now.

by Anonymous 4 days ago

It's not a "way to do things", they are immergent properties of an underlying system. A cold mathematical result of the forces of sociatal structure, if you will. There is no known system that would flip them.

by raoul42 4 days ago

Remove the talent portion and the questions as well, they're irrelevant.

by Anonymous 4 days ago

that'd be boring

by StatusAlarming3015 4 days ago

Not to me lol:)

by Anonymous 4 days ago

I think we should rework it so that when we're looking for beauty, we're looking for true inside beauty. You can't join the contest yourself. You have to be nominated by someone who's observed you for years, and can rate your kindness, and your charity, and the things you do for other people. How you make people feel how much you give back to the world. That would be a true beauty contest.
