Snape should not be considered a good person, amirite?

yep. he was extremely flawed due to his upbringing but still ended up doing the right things, if for slightly selfish reasons. while alan did him justice the movies cut out pretty significant scenes that could've added to better understanding of his character.

What if Snape lived most of his life in misery, sacrificing the real him every single day to be masked and in character as a villain, so to be the spy and inner ear that was so needed by the "good guys"? Then he's not just a good person, then he is the best of people, one who lived a life of misery just to try and help.

Most Harry Potter fans consider the book Snape and the movie Snape as about the same. Alan playing the movie version doesn't change my opinion on the book version.

"It was never about being a good person" is absolutely right. If motivation is more important than what he actually did (worked for dumbledore risking his life to save HP) – then you are right and he's not a good guy. He was a hero though, and did it all for love, which is far more important than his whole asshole vibe.

I don't think Snape is "good" or "bad"; the entire point of Snape's character is to show his love for Lily is so great that he'd do anything for her. Isn't that the whole point of their Patronus Charm being alike?
