Well, that applies to Hawaii also and all the other islands and maybe half of Alaska and Canada. I get it and it will probably be better in terms of monney but people are gonna be people and invoke things like culture, traditions and customs as well as the notion of beeing evicted off the land their grand grand grand granny owned for millennium

What they really need to do is build a huge sea wall complex to prevent storm surges and revamp the drainage systems in cities. Of course that costs money and government effort, and we know how those people down there view the government… and also climate change.

Because those are people and as part of a society we have to look after everyone and not just shrug and give up. BUT if you want to break it down in a purely non human way then its an easy answer. Building and providing stuff is good for the economy. Businesses get paid to rebuild and provide for those in need and they in turn pay taxes. Food gets made to give to survivors and that has to be bought from food production companies. Even when the worst happens, funerals are still a paid service and those business pay taxes too.
