The way he's been treating his kids? Punisher? What the hell have you been reading?

by AffectionateFold4804 1 month ago

Batman's kids? You seem confused.

Biological kid: Damian Wayne introduced in 2006 became Robin. Adopted kids: Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, Tim Drake, and Cassandra Cain. all brutally trained to become vigilantes

Definently a punisher type character. If anything punisher is becoming a more batman like character. Batman has always been a loner and cocky in most iterations. Though, I think I see where you are going. He is becoming a little boring and one note. Not complex of a character in the movies.

Which Batman?

by Anonymous 1 month ago

Every Batman adaptation in the last 20/30 years

The Punisher and Batman are two VERY DIFFERENT characters. The Punisher brutally murders people and often kills innocents in the process. Batman has a no kill rule and simply takes criminals to Arkham Asylum.

Most Batman adaptations don't have kids.

He doesn't even have kids in the latest batman movie lol

I feel like this perfectly describes the All Star Batman and Robin version, but not most other versions. Honestly, my big problem with Batman is that I think he's becoming a little over-exposed with so many adaptations and spin-offs and whatnot, and also a bit too much of a borderline meme. There was a period not too long ago where you couldn't swing a dead cat without someone saying "With adequate prep-time, Batman could beat [Insert Literally Anyone or Anything]!" And half the time you couldn't tell whether it was said jokingly or seriously.

...his kids?

by Serious_Chair 1 month ago

Despite only one Robin being his biological child, I don't think it's a stretch to call the Robins "his kids", I'm pretty sure that's what OP's referring to

That's fair!

Give me an example that has been in more than a couple movies or comics and i'll agree

Batman and Superman are heroes for a "good" world, where the worst criminals are thugs bumbling around at night and super-powered villains that are so obviously in-human that it's A-OK to take them out. They are incompatible with the real world, where the worst criminals function within the boundaries of the law, or simply re-write the laws to suit themselves. As soon as one realizes most problems in the real world are caused by a very tiny minority of extremely wealthy people creating the whole system that perpetuates criminals, the DC comic universe as a whole just falls flat IMO.

This would make even the slightest bit of sense if one of Batman's biggest/most popular villains wasn't the Court of Owls, which does literally everything you just talked about, and much more that exists in real life. People regularly forget that there's a person outside of the Batman costume, and that a lot of good Batman comics regularly show Bruce Wayne himself fighting corruption with his money and influence too

Batman was my favorite super hero when I was a kid, I loved watching the animated series and Batman beyond in the 90s, used to collect comics too. I'm not really that into super hero stuff in general anymore (it's cool, I just don't keep up with it) but once I became an adult the whole concept of Batman just started seeming kind of silly to me. Like why is he dressing up and going out to fight crime, he could probably use his money to make a much bigger difference. Even if he just paid more people to go out and fight crime than just himself and the sidekicks lol.

....What?

Out of curiosity, which Batman are we talking about right now? Is this comic Batman, the most recent movie Batman, or which one?

by BuyLow 1 month ago

It depends which version. But in three long run, Frank Millar has done more harm Than good for Batman - now that's an unpopular opinion. For me, early 80s/late 70s Batman is peak.

Always has been Abuses kids to mold them into him and his whole "i wouldnt even kill hitler" stupidity means he has countless of people's blood on his hands.

Yes the super hero whose superpower is white privilege has now become hard to root for. Got it.
