At our company it is a reminder about statistics on male suicide, heart disease etc. More of a way to tell people to check in on their loved ones, and maybe go to a doctor when they have a chance

They're supposed to serve as days of reflection lol, a annual period of time dedicated specifically to acknowledging those ugly parts so they aren't repeated. We don't want to forget.

Aye and I understand that, I just feel like the way they've been handled has largely boiled down to a means for corporations to peddle more product. Take Pride Month for instance, it so quickly got hijacked by corporate suits to go "buy our thing, we slapped a rainbow on it!" Or alternatively if it's not being used to promote consumerism it's being used to shut down discussion because "XYZ month is [month]". I get the concept, but I think the execution is faulty y'know?
