Obviously this gets said a lot, but I think the show is tough to categorize and definitely a dark comedy on some level. The Fak brothers and Richie get a lot of laugh lines. The fast-talking dialogue is intended to create a sarcastic tone between the intense characters like Carmy and Richie and the outsiders to the madness like Sydney and Natalie (who had escaped but got pulled back in).
