+22 The haka is not impressive, it's annoying, amirite?

by hayliewintheise 1 day ago

this mothafuka spitting. eloquent and to the point. most solid easy to grasp explanation of that tactic 🤝

by Icy_Quantity 1 day ago

I wonder how one could guess such a thing? Very smart guy apparently.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

This. Well put.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

No, do tell. Please

by lamontheathcote 1 day ago

This is the first time I'm seeing this

by delilah27 1 day ago

True popular opinion!

by Low-Effective 1 day ago

Nope. They're not.

by Hilbert21 1 day ago

"disliked" is not the same thing as "unpopular". if a large group of people are doing it, it's not unpopular

by DotAltruistic7065 1 day ago

It's unpopular. Just more and more people are having the sack to say it now. Typical

by olang 1 day ago

Judging by the negatives they end up at yes. It's unpopular.

by camron96 1 day ago

Yeah, honestly it is a bit cringe.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

This is where I'm at as well. Not a big deal if people get something out of it though.

by Connect_Helicopter72 1 day ago

"Other people's culture is cringe"

by Anonymous 1 day ago

..sure? Something being cultural doesn't really mean it's any more or less cringe-proof

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Travel the world and spend more than a few days wherever you go and I guarantee you'll be cringing more than a few times before you're done.

by Far_Land_8906 1 day ago

I cringe more at lack of culture in my hometown than abroad tbh.

by Major-Heat-7705 1 day ago

Even in my own culture I cringe. Like when the tribute band pulls out Ship of Fools, or Dupres's Diamonds.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Sometimes yes. Even my own culture has very cringe moments. It's very normal to see things as NOT black and white.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Just because it isn't your culture doesn't mean you can't have opinions on it. I'm sure you have had opinions about other cultural practices, does that suddenly get downplayed because it's culturally related?

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Sometimes, yeah it is.

by Party-Parking 1 day ago

Case in point, the decisions your grandparents made that resulted in you being here

by jlarkin 1 day ago

Yeah and I'm not happy about that either

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Lol I'm sorry

by jlarkin 1 day ago

And?

by LongUniversity 1 day ago

"I think presenting my self as an ignorant racist on the internet makes me look badass"

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Nah some culture are better than others

by LongUniversity 1 day ago

"I think accusing everything of being racism makes me a good person"

by Anonymous 1 day ago

There is nothing cringe about a lifted pickup truck with big rubber nuts hanging off the back and a giant WE THE PEOPLE decal.

by No-Effort4686 1 day ago

Ah yes, a historical dance is exactly the same thing as truck nuts and bumper stickers. You're very smart.

by Layne83 1 day ago

Correct.

by Osinskimarlon 1 day ago

Cannibalism is cringe.

by Madilyn50 1 day ago

Not really, i don't care about the dance or whatever but there's a time and place for everything. Basketball is part of American culture but a senator should probably not show up in basketball shorts and start crossing people up Or it would also be very strange if white conservative politicians began ripping up papers, screaming and dancing…

by Critical_Carob_153 1 day ago

You don't think the way women are treated in many cultures is cringe?

by Kohlerlouie 1 day ago

No, other cultures are great. And should even be celebrated in the right place and time. But just like with ice bucket challenges and gender reveals, yall take it too far. It really was no surprise when the TV told you to wear a mask, you had a box ready to go to play ninja.

by olang 1 day ago

i replied im not a racist can we not agree something is annoying without putting a "spin" on it?

by Anonymous 1 day ago

What's annoying about a dance you don't have to watch?

by Layne83 1 day ago

It's not racist to find a dance cringe just because it's brown people doing said dance.

by CupRepresentative 1 day ago

This just in: all opinions are racist

by Solid-Ideal3404 1 day ago

Its A weird ass culture that is screaming and making faces

by Collierleo 1 day ago

"I've never been to any sporting event ever"

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Yeah. American culture is a culture of gun-fetishizing and it sucks. Not all aspects of every culture are equal.

by brielle98 1 day ago

Guns are cool asf tho

by Specialist_Remote745 1 day ago

I'd argue vintage "ray guns" are cooler than most real guns.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Okay but unironocally, not all traditions are good ones.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

That's a lot of words for " I don't like it because I've seen it enough times". This isn't an opinion, it's a feeling. Not going to address its validity on that basis but you show little sympathy for the idea that those who may share it on NFL may not have seen it before, or hail from somewhere far from NZ. AND, with the Maori protests on NZ right now, this feeling is also just insensitive. Would you find the Haka annoying in NZ's parliament building? Others would find it righteous.

by Anonymous 23 hours ago

It's literally the DEFINITION of a opinion 🤦🏾‍♂️ 😂

by Hilbert21 23 hours ago

We did this one last week, shut up.

by Anonymous 23 hours ago

We did this one like 5 times last week

by Irma39 23 hours ago

Same here. I wouldn't say it's annoying, but, I'm definitely not as entertained or impressed by it as other seem to be.

by Anonymous 23 hours ago

Haka is cringe. In all contexts, not just rugby. At this point it is a popular opinion (if it's predictable, even better!).

by Legal-Confidence 22 hours ago

It's frigging cringe to see grown adults doing it, not sorry either.

by Anonymous 22 hours ago

I love seeing Hakas - imagine a tradition passed down for generations. Learning as a small child from your parents - their parents taught them.

by Anonymous 22 hours ago

The beauty of the world lies in the diversity of its people.

by blanche37 22 hours ago

Not necessarily. Tell that to the women living under the Taliban dictatorship.

by Osinskimarlon 22 hours ago

Meh, I think birds are way more beautiful.

by Nyah12 21 hours ago

Agreed, it's obnoxious and cringe

by No-Ear 21 hours ago

Lmao seriously

by Anonymous 21 hours ago

Get over it baby

by Glad-Calendar2804 20 hours ago

Are you not intimidated?!

by Anonymous 20 hours ago

Yeah why can't they just be more like their local colonialists /s

by Anonymous 20 hours ago

The boys at my daughter's school perform it when opening assembly as part of the anthem and they take it very seriously. It's amazing to see, even when performed by 9 year olds.

by Anonymous 20 hours ago

Well that seems like a more appropriate context, the issue here is the context

by Critical_Carob_153 20 hours ago

Yep. Fascinating how people will lick the balls of this performance, even when done within the halls of parliament or whatever. That's the issue.

by Anonymous 20 hours ago

"The Haka is woke" is certainly a take.

by Layne83 20 hours ago

Well that's not my take lol, the people defending it being used in a silly context are "woke"

by Critical_Carob_153 19 hours ago

I think its great at sporting events, or other "positive" environments in good spirits. When its used to disrupt a political meeting, you have my zero support.

by Anonymous 19 hours ago

Exacty. It seems like they're throwing a temper tantrum. You wouldn't tolerate this from a child. Use your words.

by Felicitychampli 19 hours ago

How will you ever overcome this affliction

by Dependent_Chip 18 hours ago

it's a glorified tantrum

by Anonymous 18 hours ago

How is it a tantrum, I get finding it annoying or cringe but coming together and being loud is not a tantrum, especially since they're not even angry

by Kemmerlelah 18 hours ago

If you've ever seen how toddlers freak out, it does kind of share some of those qualities for sure. Just a bit more controlled and with less snot

by No-Ear 18 hours ago

The definition of tantrum literally includes the word "uncontrolled". A "controlled tantrum" is not.

by Anonymous 17 hours ago

it is not an unpopular opinion to dislike and look down on minority cultural practices. it's very common to feel that way actually. and closed minded.

by Anonymous 17 hours ago

I like actual unpopular opinions. I don't have any strong feelings about it either way.

by adah74 17 hours ago

Well at least it's unpopular.

by Anonymous 16 hours ago

Wow, how original ...

by Interesting_Gas_9345 16 hours ago

I agree. It is ok to do so for the right context. I ain't gonna go Haka if McDonald's runs out of ketchup

by Anonymous 16 hours ago

Now I have to look up "Haka"

by Soft-Expression 15 hours ago

I was thinking the same. It's kinda cringy and not intimidating.

by Merlelangosh 15 hours ago

Honestly I don't like Haka because I don't like anything that makes that much sound. But I understand it's part of their culture and while I don't consider it awesome I think that they have the right to perform whatever they want in their country or their spaces. Would I get annoyed if they performed it next to me? Absolutely, but I believe that's part of the intention behind it

by othowill 15 hours ago

What's it like being jealous of an entire culture?

by Anonymous 15 hours ago

THANK YOU! I find it cringe and annoying too

by Anonymous 14 hours ago

What it actually is is a proud expression of culture, Heritage and history, by a people who have historically had their culture and identities silenced. In the proper context, it has a lot more value than "adults screaming and slapping themselves", and if you fail to see that, I don't think your opinion is very useful to anyone, popular or not.

by Anonymous 14 hours ago

I'm sick of the haka too uh.

by Alone-Play1395 14 hours ago

Anything different from the culture you have grown up in is "weird" and "embarrassing", huh?

by Zgraham 13 hours ago

I also think some people don't like it because it's a genuine display of emotion and intent - not some cynical halfass attempt hiding behind irony in case random people on the internet mock you.

by Anonymous 13 hours ago

This is the truth. It's too real, and therefore, it's cringe.

by Anonymous 13 hours ago

Agreed. They look like psychos...

by Anonymous 12 hours ago

That's the idea

by Anonymous 12 hours ago

Let's not imitate the same sentiments that tried to sanitise their culture out of existence!

by Kemmerlelah 12 hours ago

That's the point. If you think they look crazy, then it's working.

by Anonymous 12 hours ago

just say you're xenophobic and go bro you don't need to do all this

by Anonymous 11 hours ago

I agree lol, it's something they do to feel "strong and empowered" right before they go back to pushing paper at their desk job like the rest of us

by Anonymous 11 hours ago

The cultureless love to cosplay culture.

by Anonymous 11 hours ago

Ah, you're racist then. Got it.

by Anonymous 11 hours ago

It is embarrassing for sure. Im surprised people dont mock it more often

by Anonymous 11 hours ago

OP high key xenophobic. Lol.

by Vivianneprosacc 11 hours ago

I doubt that.

by Left_Lingonberry_197 10 hours ago

Is this an unpopular opinion or just a racist opinion?

by Immediate-Knee 10 hours ago

Reported for spam.

by Irma39 10 hours ago

I don't know if this is actually unpopular.

by mireya70 9 hours ago

I'd say it's still unpopular, given that the politician performing the haka just went viral for the past couple of weeks.

by Anonymous 9 hours ago

Yeah, but I assumed it was viral for how absolutely stupid it was.

by mireya70 9 hours ago

And I'm sick of you lot bitching about it

by Anonymous 8 hours ago

It's not awesome just because it's "associated with ancestors". Do you know what The Haka means? Until you can explain what it is and what it's for, how about keep The Haka's name out your goddamn mouth.

by Vivianneprosacc 8 hours ago

You can't see me. That would be pointless. And I don't know any dances that make people scared.

by Vivianneprosacc 8 hours ago

Wow someone is a wittle upset.

by Anonymous 8 hours ago

Keen observation, Lisa. How'd you get so smart?

by Vivianneprosacc 7 hours ago

Someone is still a wittle upset, huh?

by Anonymous 7 hours ago

In fact you are. It's written in The Book of Cringe. It's like in the first chapter.

by Vivianneprosacc 7 hours ago

Total Cringe

by Anonymous 6 hours ago

I'd say it's cringe, but I'm not allowed to cuz having an anime profile picture makes any of my opinions irrelevant... :(

by Anonymous 6 hours ago

It's impossible to tell it's a Trump meme unless I go in your profile and zoom the picture

by Anonymous 6 hours ago

good plan ser, but I'm to stubborn and would like to stay true to myself appreciate your reply though :)

by Anonymous 6 hours ago

Agreed! God save the queen! The sun never sets!

by Organic_Ring 6 hours ago

nice dog whistle

by Anonymous 5 hours ago

That's the point. I think they are trying to say OP is dog whistling.

by Anonymous 5 hours ago

It is annoying and cringeworthy, yes. It's even worse now that they've politicised it. It's ruined forever.

by Jenashanahan 5 hours ago

Gotta get hyped for Moana 2

by Anonymous 5 hours ago

I love it when people call it cringe. Its an indigenous culture not a tik tok dance lol

by Anonymous 4 hours ago

Depends of the culture . Sometimes , I imagine myself that humanity , as a whole , could greatly benefit if people just grab cultural concepts that "work" , and implement it in all fields . But , as it is suggested . People will defy this , because their national identity will be in danger. Culture is not good or wrong . They are just values . People doing the Haka mean something for them ; however , it does not mean nothing for the rest of the world .

by klingsonia 4 hours ago

Okay and at bars and clubs adults just spasm and seizure and drink poison, but we consider that normal? A haka is harmless by comparison.

by Anonymous 3 hours ago

Iamverywhite level over 9000 lmaooo

by garrickstark 3 hours ago

haka tuwah ??
