+33 Finding a hair in your food is not that gross, amirite?

by Due-Citron 2 weeks ago

Hair in my food tells me that proper safety protocols are not being followed. If this slipped through the cracks, what else is? But it's not gross in and of itself. I'll finish my food, pay, tip, and not go back.

We lose thousands of hairs everyday

That's why hair has to be secured in a hairnet, and pulled back if it's long.

Your anecdote doesn't somehow make all instances of hair in the food that of the customer. Most of the time it isn't the customer's hair. Your argument on this leads me to suspect you are unsanitary making food and leave hair in it. Wear a hairnet.

in food safety you learn that it's a common occurrence to touch your hair or face and contaminate out of force of habit hence why you should wash your hands after touching your face, body, clothes or even just your shoelaces. If a hair falls in your food, there's a chance it could be contaminated with bacteria 😫

Hair is probably cleaner than the hands they use to prepare your food. Definitely agree.

Seeing it might not be too bad if it gets into my mouth I'd gag

It's gross in the sense that I would prefer to not find anything in my food, but it's really not that big of a deal.

I agree with you but at the same time I understand how finding not food in your food would be alarming.

It's weird because I can pull a dog hair out of my food and all is well, but if it's a long human hair I'm done. Appetite gone. No idea why.

may be the length

It's just hair Seriously I found more hair on my food than I did when brushing my hair

How about multiple hairs

I was just thinking about this the other day, there's at least 5 things that are grosser and could plausibly be found in prepared food. People probably eat hair coincidentally at home all the time.

Yeah, it's just hair, but it's an indicator that food safety and handling isn't the best. Gagging can be reflexive, and sending it back is understandable - they didn't order food with hair. There are worse things that can happen to your food you'd never know about "Could've been worse" as justication to quietly accept food with hair in it is certainly.. a choice, lol

I kinda agree. We have immune systems for a reason.Plus it's no or less worse than someone touching your food, which I'm sure happens a lot at places.

I really don't care if it's in the food.. what disgusts me is when I don't see it before it makes it to my mouth. Something about that feeling is just vomit inducing.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

If there is hair in my food, there is a distinct possibility of hair in my mouth, which will make me puke. Also it is unsanitary. You're making the assumption that hair is clean and there's no nits etc.

by gottliebcarmelo 2 weeks ago

It's disgusting. You have no idea how clean that person is and there is dirt, hair product and or sweat in hair even if they wash their hair regularly

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

The hands that prepared the food and the utensils used to eat the food, hell even touching the chairs or table are probably more likely to get you sick than a strand of hair. It's all psychological
