+47 Minivans are the most useful and versatile cars, amirite?

by Anonymous 1 day ago

This is just a right opinion.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

This is objectively correct. Just like how 99% of people who buy pickups have no use for them and are wasting tens of thousands of dollars on useless depreciating asset.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

What are you towing?

by Browndina 1 day ago

Useless?! My 2500HD IS my camper lol.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I guess I'm in the 1%. Also keeping it for 27 years helps in that depreciation cycle as it's been paid for since 2002. I'm not bashing on mini vans though. I'm more of a station wagon guy but it would need to be a full size and they haven't made those since the mid 90s. I had a Volvo 240 wagon but it couldn't handle the snow and most minivans are in the same category for where I live.

Lose some weight 😄

by hueldelia 1 day ago

What are you talking about? I'm literally 8lbs above underweight for my height/BMI. It's not that. It's ground clearance.

My Kia Canival is amazing. I've carried furniture, garden materials, 8 people for a winery tour, done cross continental road trips. Open the back and sit and watch sunsets. It's just wonderful.

Buddy has a carnival and we got 8 dudes and 4 golf bags in it. Was glorious

My dad specifically bought a minivan with stowable seats because he can go from hauling 7 people to a whole ass sheet of plywood in minutes.

I had a Nissan Quest that I put a hang gliding rack on. I put a dvd system in it and it was the road trip vehicle for my buddies. Could carry six wings and 7 people, though the harnesses kept it to 5 & 6 (driver). Unfortunately, in Big Sur, I dinged the transmission oil pan. A buddy field repaired it, but it did the transmission in and even after getting it rebuilt, I had to sell the minivan. I got a Nissan Pathfinder. It's a beast, truck frame, same racks, can also have 4 bikes on the trailer hitch. I bought it right before a trip to Yosemite. One of my buddies said, about an hour in: "I like the minivan better".

I love them too but the gas mileage I get from my small hatchback is too hard to pass up :(

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I liked minivans as a kid because of all the seats

by Anonymous 1 day ago

We've moved houses with a minivan and a wagon (walkable distance).

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I had a Town and country for many years and I completely agree. The functionality of that car was truly amazing. Unfortunately the quality of any Chrysler car leaves significant room for improvement

by Anonymous 1 day ago

It would be great if Costco sold transmissions -- you could buy a box of six and be all set!

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I had a hand me down for a little bit when I got started. I miss that thing. Could haul anything in it. Was great to go camping in. And no one paid me any attention when in sketchy areas. It was great.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I agree but I prefer wagons over minivans since they tend to have longer cargo areas, get better fuel mileage and the roof racks are more accessible

by amyaparker 1 day ago

If you can have 2 cars, a van and truck is the best combo imo. Because when you need to occasionally haul big things or a lot of things, a truck is best. For everything else, the van.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Very true, but they are hideous looking.

Found the real unpopularopinion

You just gotta get a wizard airbrushed on the side is all.

and wagons

Only if you want to be cool.

by Numerous_Put_983 1 day ago

I went from a Honda Odyssey to a Volvo XC90, the Honda was ok, but the Volvo does everything better. Therefore Volvo wagons are the ultimate vehicle.

The aesthetic tho

by Anonymous 1 day ago

That's why I owned one when my kids were home.

by Then_Preparation 1 day ago

They'e fun to drive too, or they were in the late 90s/00s. They had this front-end pickup that felt awesome.

by Mathewcrona 1 day ago

My kids are grown, and my Sienna now has 280,000 miles. My next car will probably be another one.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I was willing to consider it but there weren't any that were reasonable to buy.

by PrizeDry7182 1 day ago

The only people who would disagree are people who've never owned one. Minivans are goated.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I currently drive a GMC Yukon. I told my family that my next car was going to be a plug in hybrid minivan and I've never seen such looks of disgust. Minivans get great mileage, ride great and can carry cargo. I can also live in it when I get kicked out of the house.

by Similar_Pace 1 day ago

Not to mention I've never known anyone to get pulled over in a minivan! It was really the perfect freshman year car

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I'm a single guy, and I am the proud owner of a Minivan. I actually need it for work, but I'll tell you -- as you age, you'll appreciate the ride over an SUV.....

by Anonymous 1 day ago

They are ugly, underpowered, and not quite big enough to move larger items. They do a lot of things. They just don't do anything well. That and they are absolutely miserable to drive. It's like driving a cardboard box that feels like a cardboard box. Crappy suspension. Terrible engine and easily broken plastic crap everywhere.

Only because currently, more are AWD. 2WD minivans were nonsense in the winter.
