+42 Once an individual completes his/her formal education/training, he/she should move out of his/her parents' house. Far too many individuals live at home with their parents for far too long. amirite?

I moved out of my family home at 21, but frankly, I don't care if my kids ever move out. Our generation doesn't place enough importance on family.

Are you gonna give us all money or should we try selling feet picks to afford "our adventure"?

I wouldn't recommend that to anyone, especially if it's not about survival and escape from a bad situation, but just to be "the hero of your own story".

As long as they're helping out around the house with rent or chores, and they're not taking advantage of their parents, who cares?

My mother is trying to convince me to move in with her. I'm 26. She's not elderly, she's not alone, my little brother is 10 (yes big age gap, she remarried). The moving out as soon as you can is culturally a very novel thing, families used to live together 3-4 generations, as long as they fit in the home they stay. And honestly? Nothing wrong with that

So tell us OP how that's working out for you…
