+33 Raw tomatoes ruin food, amirite?

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Garden fresh tomatoes have a flavor that is unmatched. Some people like vegetables that taste like vegetables.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Seconded. Garden tomatoes are mind blowingly good.

Oh yeah, a fresh garden grown chocolate tomato is one of the absolute best morsel of foods in human existence.

My BLT says you're a liar.

A MLT, when the mutton is nice and lean.

legit unpopular

by Anonymous 2 days ago

I'm not a huge fan of raw tomatoes but I almost never eat a burger without them.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

But…its so soggy

by Anonymous 2 days ago

A good tomato isn't going to be soggy.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

And the heat just makes them soggier while stealing heat from your burger.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

I agree, but with some foods. I personally will never understand tomatoes on burgers, why would I want to bite a wet soggy layer, it is simply beyond me.

by russelnichole 2 days ago

I can't stand the texture. Even if the flesh of the fruit is actually decent, I HATE the weird loose wetness of the seeds, eugh…

by okeefejuwan 2 days ago

I agree. And I like tomatoes in any other preparation besides raw.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Same!

putting raw tomatoes on cooked foods should be illegal, it really ruins every dish. In a salad tho ? Hell yeah love em.

So, I think the reason so many people think like you is very few people season their tomatoes properly. You gotta slice your tomatoes, salt them really heavily, and leave them on the board for like 10-15 min. This draws out excess moisture, so after 10 min they will be swimming in juice. You have to pat them dry with paper towel, then put them on the food. They won't make anything soggy, and the salt brings out their flavour.

Just slice one up and put mozzarella, basil, evoo and a little balsamic and it doesn't get any better.

My husband likes it like this, and generally LOVES tomatoes. He's tried to convert me, but I can't bro that texture and flavor is too much

Caprese salad is beyond compare, though for me it's the exception that proves the rule.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

I've also never found the idea of adding chewy water to my hamburger a good thing. Cooked tomatoes are fine but leave the raw ones in the dirt.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Hell yeah!

by Anonymous 2 days ago

So you are fine with warm watery water?

by Krystinakoelpin 2 days ago

Yes, finally some unpopular opinion I agree with. I hate raw tomatoes.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

I have but honestly did not like it. My biggest issue is the texture too, and that probably taints any enjoyment I would get from flavor.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Hahaha. I disagree but love the description.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Salads I think it's fine since most things are raw and crunchy but sandwiches and burgers I agree

by Cschowalter 2 days ago

I don't like them either, the texture weirds me out.

by lori04 2 days ago

Show me someone who ate chicken nuggets and French fries their whole life

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Hard disagree boo, i'll eat anything else 😘 just fckin hate tomatoes

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Agreed. Tomatoes that are not turned into salsa, pasta sauce, or ketchup are disgusting.

I love raw tomatoes. They are so refreshing. Slightly acidic but mostly water and a little savory flavor. Im American so I put a little ranch dressing on them sometimes. Balsamic vinegar is good too.

by pacochatito 1 day ago

The texture and juiciness are the best part! Lol

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Wait til you hear that some people eat tomato sandwiches lol

by ToughPepper 1 day ago

I eat raw tomatos like apples, maybe sprinkle a little salt. They are so good.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I love tomatoes, especially garden fresh, but I agree with you when it comes to burgers. A nice salad or the right sandwich though? Load it up.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Oh I absolutely agree..hate them

by EarthOk 1 day ago

Agree with sandwiches and burgers Fresh salsa with homegrown tomatoes though? 🤌🏼

Or maybe you have the palate of an 8 year old kid. Grow up and learn to appreciate different textures and flavors besides chicken tenders and cheeseburgers.

by Proper-Use 1 day ago

Tell me you've never in your life tasted a proper tomato without telling me…

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I mean I've tried all kinds and across different states too. Coworker brought me tomatoes from her garden once and everyone raved about how good they were but I just couldn't get into it 😓 Made some delicious pasta sauce though
