The education system is constantly changing as is what kids learn and the viewpoints they learn it from. The things you listed are sometimes taught in school but a lot is on parents.

I get that, but every household is different… not every child has stability or parental figures to help support and guide them. And since 1-12 is mandatory, why not change it to include like skills that will be more beneficial once they graduate.

Never said learning was good. I just feel there is other useful things children should learn, that will better prepare them.

I totally agree! It'd be way more helpful if schools taught real-life skills like finance and communication instead of focusing so much on outdated history.

They don't want to learn it because it's boring and not useful once they graduate. They can learn history and everything else at their fingertips nowadays. I'm not saying what I've learned in school wasn't informative, but I didn't have to apply it to my everyday life really. Except math. How many job actually ask for proof of your diploma, accomplishments or degree?, we fill out on applications we have it… but I never had to bring in a photo copy as proof. I'm just saying…not every household is the same, and kids are graduating and are told that they are now adults, and get ready for the real world…but are not equipped for it, based on what they've learned in school.

Talk to your kid's school. Chances are they have most of not all of that already, just need to pick the right electives to fill in a couple loose ends. As parents it's our duty to round off the minor things as well. That's why it's called parenting.
