People who complain about germs are annoying af, amirite?
by FamiliarSurprise3 weeks ago
Unless it's a service dog, dogs should absolutely not be allowed in grocery stores. I think that would fall under basic hygiene. Why the hell would you want a random dog anywhere near the food you're gonna eat?
by calliemayer3 weeks ago
I don't really want a random human near the food I'm gonna eat either, I don't know where they've been.
by Anonymous3 weeks ago
Indeed. How easily people forget the absolute trash heaps who spread their germs (ooh careful OP don't let a vein burst) on fresh food during COVID just for attention. They haven't gone away just because no one reports about COVID anymore.

Exactly, as a grocery store worker i feel like dogs are probably cleaner than 1/4 of our customers judging by the dirt i see under their fingernails and smell from them ðŸ˜
by Anonymous3 weeks ago
Wow I see what you did there, you turned it right around. How clever! But you seem to forget humans are required to stock the shelves and get their groceries. Dogs not so much.
by Anonymous3 weeks ago
When were they wrong the first time? Why are you talking like an idiot and calling them champ?
by Anonymous3 weeks ago
how dogs shouldn't be allowed in a grocery stores because it's unclean like what Absolutely agree, dogs should not be in grocery stores
by Anonymous3 weeks ago
Yeh I got a dog and I wouldn't want him walking around in there, he could catch all sorts of human germs Just joking but he'd definitely pee and poop on stuff, possibly lick everything too so I definitely wouldn't want him running around in there
by Standard-Sentence7563 weeks ago
Haha you should probably try training him a lil bit
by FamiliarSurprise3 weeks ago
Yes he should, but he is not going to and similary to him majority of dog owners are not going to train them properly. And thats why dogs shouldn't be allowed into grocery store.
by Anonymous3 weeks ago
lol apparently this is an unpopular opinion as well but I don't think you should own a dog if you can't put in the effort to train them
by FamiliarSurprise3 weeks ago
Service dogs should be allowed anywhere where their owners, who need them, need to be
by ProfessionalDream3 weeks ago
Yep, "truly trained" being key here. Way too many "emotional support" certified animals who aren't actually trained (or provide emotional support).

OP seems to have been generally talking about dogs, which service dogs still are. And PLENTY of people make a huge fuss over properly trained service dogs being in places like that. People complaining about dogs in grocery stores are generally also complaining about service dogs too because they think people are lying

People complaining about dogs in grocery stores are generally also complaining about service dogs too because they think people are lying LOL Many people are lying. Now when I see it and think they are lying I do not go Karen, I just make private judgments about these people and continue my day.

I was just in italy and they have a great system. They have special carts for dogs to sit in. They are not allowed to walk around the shops and must stay in the carts.
by Anonymous3 weeks ago
That sounds mad cute
by FamiliarSurprise3 weeks ago
Respectfully if you step in my house with shoes you're leaving. It won't give me diseases, it likely won't show on the floor, but there's a principle to being clean outside of just basic hygiene for survival.
by Anonymous3 weeks ago
That fair. your house your rules
by FamiliarSurprise3 weeks ago
Just as a contrast to this, here in Ireland (and I'm certain the UK as well), it would be more odd if you went into someone's house and they asked you to take your shoes off. The majority of people wear shoes in the house, strangers included.
by Anonymous3 weeks ago
I was confused about this when visiting from North America. Is there any main reasons? I definitely had to wear slippers inside when I was there, which even here in -20 to -40, I wouldn't feel I need them. Are "shoes on" generally a thing because houses in the uk are most commonly made of brick/stone and you gotta keep those tosies toasty?
by Anonymous3 weeks ago
Totally fair points but I'd say the only issue that arise with dogs in a store is if it's not trained or groomed properly which should be prerequisite for owing a dog in my opinion but that's kind of a different argument all together
by FamiliarSurprise3 weeks ago
Most people's dogs aren't that well trained or well groomed. Better to just not bring your dog in a place that sells food. Only dog I'd find acceptable is a real service dog. Everyone else's dogs don't need to come into the grocery store.

My parents live in a country that you can walk in with your shoes inside the house the whole day, on the other hand I live in a country in which if you dont take off your shoes before you take 2 steps after crossing the doorway you will be sternly reminded. So in Rome be a Roman... Adapt to the circumstances of each person and location.

Haha I mean I not gonna say it's something completely unproblematic but I do feel it in my bones somewhat. Also do you know that's it's a specific protein in fur that makes some people allergic? And that the body basically mistakes it for something harmful. I used to be mad allergic to animal fur and I kinda grew out of it which I believe was due to exposure but it's definitely not gonna work for everyone

"Dogs used to help cavemen hunt, so they should be allowed into grocery stores" ??? Wtf are you talking about
by RevolutionaryRuin3 weeks ago
Think about it: it's not just about helping cavemen hunt; it's about helping everyone hunt, from then until now. Dogs have also been crucial for pest control, protecting livestock, herding, fighting in wars, transport, and tracking—so many other jobs that would have been nearly impossible without them. It's only in the last few years that we've been privileged enough to spend time complaining about them. That's what I'm talking about.
by FamiliarSurprise3 weeks ago
I dont understand why youre listing a bunch of random things that dogs used to do. You still havent explained why in your disgusting brain any of that justifies letting them into stores and getting their filth on the food that people put into their mouths
by RevolutionaryRuin3 weeks ago
If you can't see my point dunno what to say apart just from have some dirt man 😂
by FamiliarSurprise3 weeks ago
Yea haha ur still not explaining. I cant "see" your point because it doesnt make any sense. Otherwise enlighten me
