What if I don't like MMOs?

by PossibilityOk 3 weeks ago

I think you could like it if you find the right game

Find an FPS MMO 😎 Like Warframe and Destiny

by candelario48 3 weeks ago

Most MMO's have a huge issue that most FPSs lack: They are a huge time sink. I used to play a lot of EVE online and foxhole and, when I grew up and started having responsibilities I just didn't have time to play them anymore. This Christmas I tried to retry Foxhole while being on PTO and now that I have to work again I have to leave it behind. On the contrary, more casual gamers can enjoy just playing one or two hours of shooting rounds and be done.

That's fair. And yeah that seems to be the case these days for all of us.

Planetside 2?

by oletaheaney 3 weeks ago

Ehhh that's like gray area but more MMO

by Dickinsonhipoli 3 weeks ago

You know, it's almost like different people enjoy different kinds of games for different reasons

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

Had that on my chest for a few years and had to let it out

by Dickinsonhipoli 3 weeks ago

It's not a hugely popular combo, third person shooter MMOs seem to be a decent bit more popular. Though there's still a couple examples like destiny or planetside 2 floating around. As for which genre is better, that's really a matter of opinion.

by parisianjillian 3 weeks ago

They are two different types of games, not comparable. Things people like about one genre they might not like about the other. That doesn't make one better or worse.

by igerhold 3 weeks ago

Well maybe that should have been the title instead of asserting, as fact, that one is 100% better than the other.

Defeats the purpose of skill based development? What does this mean?

by yhettinger 3 weeks ago

Not enough skill options

by Dickinsonhipoli 3 weeks ago

Compared to a big MMORPG you're looking at the host of everything you mentioned and more. I'm talking about woodworking, gardening, gathering, charisma, wars, and a host of sets of skills to build as well as use in-game. Not saying FPS doesn't have some serious skills that make it what it is just saying very few games really bridge out a holistic aspect.

by Dickinsonhipoli 3 weeks ago

Yes and no. I would say it's like Italian sandwiches are vastly better than sandwiches.

by Dickinsonhipoli 3 weeks ago

I don't know. That's a comparison I'd make if i was comparing Battlefield to Hell let loose or something like that. Similar things in different styles. I stand by my point.

Fair

You can tell this person doesn't know how to play FPS by the first sentence. Even in the N64 days it was not all run and gun. In any case, assuming you know or can decide what everyone can and should play is a stupid opinion.

Most are and you know it

by Dickinsonhipoli 3 weeks ago

MMOs are huge time sinks that mostly consist of giving you mundane dumbed down tasks designed to waste your time while barely keeping you addicted. The only reason to play MMOs is the social aspect of them, as you got something to keep your fingers busy while spending time with your friends. But then again, you could do that with a game that's inherently fun as well which makes that point moot.

I don't understand what you mean by fps defeats the purpose of skill based development

by ankundingnatali 3 weeks ago

Gardening, Woodwork, Crafting, Alchemy, Blacksmithing, Passive skills, Etc... Most fps games don't jump into all that it could be when it comes to skill building.

by Dickinsonhipoli 3 weeks ago

I fly planes and navigate ships...

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

Yea because counter strike pros haven't spent 10k+ hours developing their skills and strategy's . There is levels to all genres of games you can either be casual or a sweat.

by Altruistic-Hunt1387 3 weeks ago

Fair. There are levels to genres.
