+27 Adobe products are egregiously overpriced & should be the next company to fall, amirite?

by Pristine-Rub 3 weeks ago

Adobe is the standard for businesses and it's the most wide-spread. It isnt just the features that makes it so good but also the fact everyone in the business knows it. Spending 1k per year means nothing when they are dealing with 6+ digits.

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

I don't think anybody is happily paying 12 a year.

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

And you can manage your organization's licenses on one screen. The person you don't have to hire to keep track of who's using what products is worth the extra expense.

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

You can literally always get a discount for it. I have never paid $60/mo for Adobe Suite.

Actually companies like Adobe and Microsoft encourage you to pirate their software. Their target customers are companies and profit making individuals. They would prefer tech savvy individuals to pirate their software such that they are familiar with their software and would continue to use them when they make a profit.

Literally!

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

Yep. I've been considering getting into amateur Photoshop for fun but I have no intention of paying. I'll definitely (safely) pirate if I decide to try it out.

You used to be able to buy copies of their software. You used to be able to own the product.

I miss those days

And YouTube used to have no ads. Companies change their products overtime to maximize profit. C'est la vie.

Yes but also no. If you're a professional, it's a business expense (and one of the smaller ones at that.) If you're a hobbyist then yes I agree, but also do hobbiysts really need access to the full CC suite? The alternatives you listed are perfectly good for hobby users and solo pro creatives. >I can purchase Canva for $10 per month, Affinity with a perpetual license for $200 flat, GIMP is totally free, Vegas Pro with a $400 perpetual license or Da Vinci Resolve with a $400 perpetual license to replace those Adobe products and it's still cheaper than 1 year of Adobe products. Does Adobe not see how egregiously overpriced their products are? You can, but all Adobe apps work very well with each other. If you're a pro, this saves time. DaVinci is making strives and is a great NLE, but very very few people use it because you have to use industry standard tools. >If it's good enough for Sony, then it's good enough for you. No, it isn't. Sorry, I've used Vegas Pro and it's not a good NLE. Avid is the standard for motion pictures for a reason.

I hate their early cancellation fees too. They charged me over $70 just to cancel 3 months early on a "yearly but billed monthly" plan

by FragrantWeight3366 3 weeks ago

Go for it but you're not going to see companies switching out and that's where the bulk of the money is. I can handle that $10 a month for LR and Photoshop because I used to drop a $100 a year keeping LR updated before that. There's some good options in there like Affinity but a lot of the open source stuff is just so obtuse and buggy that people's time is worth more.

You shouldn't look at prices from Esri

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

no one mentioned pirating?

by Commercial_Trust_763 3 weeks ago

Name 1 after effect competitor, I'll wait. (A serious one please)

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

I used Adobe throughout college because it was offered free than immediately switched to Resolve lol

by Only-Wolverine 3 weeks ago

Adobe sucks but I am not skilled enough to use any of the immediate alternatives to lightroom Skill issue

by CryptographerNew5008 3 weeks ago

You should have been a graphics designer in the 90s lol

When you could buy a Malaysian CD with all the products for $5 and go the cracks.com or warez.com to either crack it or get a serial number for activation. Actually, I remember Version 4 just simply worked after installation without even requiring any of that.

I manned a Black Friday deal for $30/month for a year. That feels fair. Beyond that I'm not pleased with the cost. You do get a lot of apps for the money though

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

Adobe's pricing is Business 2 Business It's not meant to be for hobbyists , it just was the only option for a while. Canva on the other hand, is designed for any user in mind, not professional digital artists like Adobe

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

Affinity doesn't do 100% of what I need, but it does do about 98% of what I need.

by Rippinbret 3 weeks ago

If you wait til xmas you can get half off for a year, they probably have more. Either way, adobe syncs so well with itself (importing individual layers from illustrator to after effects? Hell ya) and you have access to so many apps it's not a bad deal once you start making money from it. If you're a hobbiest by all means choose and learn something else

by CauliflowerProper642 3 weeks ago

Plus the huge inconvenience of their data breech a few years ago. For what I was paying I should at least get decent information security.

by PinOtherwise 3 weeks ago

Yeah, Illustrator alone is $300/year, Procreate is $9 total…

by Ok_Property 3 weeks ago

Adobe isn't going anywhere. Lol.

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

Why is this unpopular opinion?

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

There is a complete workaround for adobe. Create a word document and get a .doc to .pfd converter app

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

Down 30% yoy, so yeah the market agrees

by Suspicious_Pound6395 3 weeks ago

You're not looking hard enough. I pay $12 a month for the complete suite.

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

Is this without a college email address?

by Present-Inflation-11 3 weeks ago

Please explain. I can get them to $39/month just by talking to their support team. How are you getting it for $12!?

by hdietrich 3 weeks ago

how?

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

Honestly, Adobe could likely charge far more and still be completely fine. A large portion of their market has always been for professional use, and most companies and consultants will easily spend hundreds of dollars on tools that are necessary to get a job done.

by kesslertrey 3 weeks ago

People still use Adobe products? Everyone I know in our industry has left it behind.

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

Which industry is this ?

by Kirsten35 3 weeks ago

If you're a professional and these are your tools that's not a lot of money.

by Sad-Literature8757 3 weeks ago

It's a hell of a lot for artists who aren't being provided these programs by an employer.

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

Use different product then. It's that easy, kid

by Hermina21 3 weeks ago

No it's not, Adobe is still professional standard and they know it.

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

Well, then pay! Simple!

by Hermina21 3 weeks ago

Yeah, and they're beyond the best products for what they do. You want the best, you pay for it.

by Fatima90 3 weeks ago

My suite is 60 a month and none of the other competitors you mentioned even come close to what Adobe does. It's clear you don't work heavily enough in the space if you think this way.
