If gonna be there for 8 hours a day, I'd rather have fun. I get along with most of my co workers and we joke around all day but also get work done. I've become friends with a few of them as well. I regularly go out for drinks or lunch with them. I do kickboxing, I have a fight on April 19th and most of my coworkers will be there. Wouldn't change it for a thing.

honestly, i kind of feel you. you're forced to be there so if a coworker ends up being an asshole then you have no choice but to put up with it. if you keep the professional act then you can just carry on with your life without having to deal with it. i don't know what line of work you're in but i hear a lot about people finding a lot more success in getting raises and keeping their jobs after becoming a likable character in their work environment. i'd argue that's worth the interaction.
