I agree. I respect and appreciate honesty over little white lies. I have entered a very messy home before and I felt absolutely uncomfortable, I haven't said it with words but I made them notice through facial expressions. A colleague of mine said she was insecure due to hair loss and greasy hair, instead of being "nice" and saying "nooooo your hair looks great!!" (which is BS), I immediately started giving her advice on what products could help her.

Sorry to be so blunt, but you could just try not being a terrible person? Thinking less of someone, because their zipper was down, wtf am I reading. If you are in any of these situations and don't want to lie just say "Oh, don't worry about it." and be done.
