There shouldn't be award shows for anything art related. amirite?

You don't think that good works deserve recognition? Some award shows get things wrong and are out of touch, but still it must feel good to get recognition in your industry.

People create so much better than what is shown. It's always the same people who are recognized by these shows and limits from what other unknown people have made. The people featured are already famous and popular and they need some award to prove that? It's junk. It shouldn't be moved into a direction of what is considered good or not or what is "award-worthy", when it's no different from any other pieces of art.

I understand hate against Sabrina Carpenter or something but who is making better music than Billie Eilish or Kendrick Lamar? What movies were better than The Brutalist, Wicked, etc?? Better plays than Hell's Kitchen, who should those two Tony's had gone to?

There could be award shows, they just shouldn't suck.

It's absolutely pay to win and most award shows are manipulated. I may have disagreed with this a couple years but after a culmination of events (such as Anora winning the Oscar) I kinda agree. That said Actors deserve recognition for their work

I don't disagree with you but also probably think video games are art so I can't take you too seriously

Imagine using the word "cringe" in year 2025. LOL

Shrug. I guess we're all cringe in our own special way. I'm not up to date on the replacement for the word cringe is.

I mean if anything can be deemed an art form doesn't that make award shows all null in that world? Like being a salesman could arguably be an art form, as with other things like the political process, business development, etc…

It depends on how you view it. You are narrowing down a path of work in which you are ordered to do, to earn something from it than the public overall viewing it. What you are saying is trying to "be the best.

I mean most artists in these award shows do it for profit. Like the Oscar's showcases movies, which are a product you sell to an audience. If you did the best, then you'd be viewed favorably in that respect. I'm just saying the net can be cast wide here

It's just about what's popular. Nobody cares what you like.

You clearly think what's getting recognition doesn't deserve it. By definition of winning said award, they do.

There aren't any actual award shows for artistic merit, hasn't been for a long time now.

All of the awards are bought anyways so don't really mean anything
