+35 Eating steaks any less than well done is weird, amirite?

by ezequieltorphy 3 weeks ago

You put ketchup on too don't you

by BuyMaleficent3222 3 weeks ago

Eww gross lol. I actually use BBQ sauce

by ezequieltorphy 3 weeks ago

That's barely better lol

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

Entirely different dish at that point

by Odd_Cat6855 3 weeks ago

Are you sure that this is really about the temperature? It sounds more like you just don't like steak. You'd probably be happier with a roast.

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

Haha of course you do.

Bro just eat charcoal. It's cheaper.

You, me and OP need to form an alliance. They coming for us. I LIKE MY BEEF WELL DONE, IDGAF WHAT ANYONE SAYS

by Historical_Rip 3 weeks ago

There is quite a gap between "raw" and "well done"

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

I'm so glad im not alone. Thank you for defending me while I'm being stoned to death 😭 lol

by ezequieltorphy 3 weeks ago

Didn't take it out on us just because your mom doesn't know how to cook steak.

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

Anyone who eats a steak well done should apologise profusely to the cow whose lofe was sacrificed for that steak

by ivory39 3 weeks ago

Some good cuts of pork can be eaten slightly pink though. Not anywhere near medium rare, just medium well i guess

by ivory39 3 weeks ago

The word often applied to pork is "rosy." Just the lightest brush of pink in the centre.

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

medium rare pork is 145 degrees. that's medium for beef. totally acceptable.

by Sorry_Resident 3 weeks ago

Pork is considered more safe at lower temperatures now than it used to be.

Oh, sweet. My mom worked in the food industry for years up until a few years back so I'm going off of perhaps outdated motherly info.

by Economy-Two-1127 3 weeks ago

I suppose my point is that if it meets safety standards then it IS fully cooked. There are simply degrees of "fully cooked".

by Economy-Two-1127 3 weeks ago

Bet you're scared of sushi too aren't you?

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

§People tell me they're too dry, but this is what steak tastes like when it's fully cooked through That's, uh.. That's why we don't do it. Eating it straight out of the package is gross/taboo, but barely searing the outside somehow makes it delicious? I just don't get it. Harmful bacteria can form on the outside. Not so much inside provided its fresh enough.

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

OP probably also has sex with his socks on.

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

It's because the outside has been exposed to oxygen, allowing for bacterial growth. The inside hasn't.

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

Oh great, so I can just cut the outside edges off your steak and serve it to you raw then. Cant get sick.

Are you aware of what steak tartare is?

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

Risky. Hope its fresh.

by That_Worldliness_335 3 weeks ago

That's one of the prerequisites for tartare. Fresh meat that was minced literally moments before it gets sent to the table. No leaving it to sit around so bacteria can grow. It's not any more risky than a blue steak.

I am! It's gross

by PreparationActive 3 weeks ago

Tell me you've never had a quality steak, without telling me you've never had a quality steak...

by Icy_Golf 3 weeks ago

Cooking it medium to medium rare retains more vitamins. That's a big reason for some people.

by Kurtokeefe 3 weeks ago

A steak cut doesn't contain many vitamins. The only considerable vitamin would be B12 and the amount loss between medium to well-done won't be considerable. For example, a T-Bone steak is 22.5% protein, 5.5% fat, and 72% water. A 100g steak has around 1.8mg Iron (10% of daily need). And iron is also relatively resistant to heating/cooking. That's one of the reasons why it's terrible to live on a meat-only diet. It has no carbs, no unsaturated fats, no vitamins/minerals, no fiber, no phytochemicals or necessary enzymes.
