Linux is fine, Ubuntu is very friendly. I think the stories of it's complexity have been blown way out of proportion

As a Linux user I can tell you that you are VASTLY overestimating the capabilities of the average user.

I use MacOS for work, Ubuntu for side project and servers and Windows for gaming and stuff. There is no "one OS" (sadly or not). Yes, Ubuntu is not "hard". But some apps just don't work there. Just as some things don't exist for Windows. Etc. Idk what is point of this endless debate (not saying that you do it, just sayin), it's a tools for tasks to be done, that's it. Though Windows is my least favorite over years. Crappy stuff, always bloats, slow af, hard to configure and fix anything (what is done with two terminal commands on *nix systems is hell for windows).

Not to mention that Linux is not suitable for gaming.

Proton would like a word. It makes most games playable, its Steam's whole schtick for their Steamdeck

Gaming is for toddlers

What a clown ass take, literally no one will look for alternative they will simply just migrate to 11

As for systems that don't support Windows 11?

by Pretend_North 3 weeks ago

Windows 10 life-cycle does need extended imo.

Be prepared for half the tech world to die then. Windows 10 is still heavily used on legacy equipment. Bank I worked most of the investment department is on Windows 10 and will be for at least 2 more years while they move to containerized virtual servers running *nix.

Alternatives such as just going to windows 11 assuming they're not staying on 10 for a few years like many did with every version of windows before it

by Rich-Adhesiveness544 3 weeks ago

99.999% of people will just migrate to Windows 11. There is not going to be a social upheaval with everyone moving to Linux or MAC.

Unless your computer doesn't support TPM 2.0 then you're SOL

Too many people haven't upgraded. And it's unlikely that they'll do if M$ sticks to their hardware restriction. They will either easen it, or people will simply remain on their EOL Win 10. Most will stay there anyway. It'll be a feast for black hats.
