+39 Americans are to be the most hated people globally, amirite?

by Popular_Abies_1496 3 weeks ago

I've traveled abroad with Trump in office multiple times. No one has ever been rude. In my experience if you're not an obnoxious jerk while traveling people don't assume the worst of you.

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

Same here. If anything, I feel like people are nicer to us (when anything about US issues comes up) because they feel bad for us and have empathy.

by Aggravating_Paint606 3 weeks ago

Most Americans are not that bad. I have also heard that the French are not as welcoming to tourists as other European countries.

by marisadickens 3 weeks ago

I have nothing against Paris or the French but Paris isn't what most people expect outside of the tourist traps.

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

I've been to Paris several times any never experienced any rudeness.

by United_Ad_9200 3 weeks ago

That's so sad.

by GlitteringMany 3 weeks ago

Can confirm. Had the same experience.

Just to REALLY screw over Puerto Rico

by Bernierlarue 3 weeks ago

Most countries don't care about America as much as they think they do. Only North Americans and most parts of European people do. There's still other continents like Africa, Asia, Australia, South America and Antarctica who don't really care much other than diplomacy related issues.

by Colin39 3 weeks ago

That is where you are wrong. I know for a fact, that penguins care about Americans. I've seen them with them red hats on.

by Athena58 3 weeks ago

I found more kindness in Americans than in Europeans

by willshannon 3 weeks ago

As evidenced by the OP. They are basically telling Americans, 'we are going to be rude to you because the rejects of your country (who don't really travel abroad much anyway) elected a terrible person.' Thanks OP - you sound really cool. Way to make others feel welcome and self-conscious while trying expand their horizons

by Strong-Clothes 3 weeks ago

You have to expect that kind of things. When Russia invaded, people turned against all russians. Most people struggle from day to day to make a living so when one coutry makes things worse for them, they dont have any more patience left and they will look at that country as an enemy.

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

You realize Europe is dealing with a similar right wing wave also? Better hope your preferred party makes the correct moves or you'll have your own version of Donald soon

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

Calling you ignorant is not enough. Europe right wing wave is not even close to be what you have. Trump is one of the closet things we have seen to Hitler since 1945, the right wing wave in Europe consists on parties that are not even winning in support to the left wing. You are literally comparing right parties existing with an elected fascist destroying your entire country.

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

The only place where I've been treated poorly was France. And French tourists in the US that I've come across have been incredibly rude as well.

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

Ah yes the French, the historically friendly and definitely don't still have colonies all over North Africa. I totally understand people not being happy with the us government-I've never been a fan. But the moral grandstanding and pearl clutching is just hilarious. You guys ever going to pay Haiti back for what you stole from them? Or how about apologize for holding African countries economies hostage till this very day?

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

France welcomed Hitler with a parade.

by Abject-Razzmatazz 3 weeks ago

Vichy doesn't count as real France

by Bernierlarue 3 weeks ago

lol. You underestimate how much people abroad like money

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

French people started ahead of the curve. We've been looking for an opportunity to broadcast our hatred since 1945. We're also the world's worst tourists, way ahead of the USA.

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

Every person including a girl who took French for 10 years and went to Paris about 3 times. Says this without fail. France is a HELLHOLE. Paris is where Satan lives. If anything French people get hated on wayyyy more than muricans. But yeah a parisian will spit in your mouth for being half Pakistani way before they ever ash a cigarette on some random for being American.

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

Change in behavior when a guest is american? Oh Jesus, please elaborate

by Plane-Acadia 3 weeks ago

It's just online gaslighting. They aren't anymore interesting by themselves. Maybe they'll jerk each other off a little more about being Not An American (TM).

by Dry_Counter8142 3 weeks ago

If you've ever been somewhere when a large group of Isreali tourists show up you'll know this isn't true.

by Glass-Kiwi 3 weeks ago

Exactly why I don't care about all the whining out of Europe. Ungrateful leeches.

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

Something like half of all Americans don't even have a passport

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

LOL true

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

The louder you are the harder it is to think.

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

Hm, I wonder how that happened. /s

by ConversationThat 3 weeks ago

Buckle up because we still have 3.5 years left of this

by Fun-Temporary5480 3 weeks ago

Nah. We (as in "we non Americans") will probably still hate Russia more. U.S.A is often a kind of a place that just "disappoints" because it is a place we'd expect more of. Though it can turn to just hate if things truly start to become dangerous.

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

We always have been. We've been paying people to be our friends. Most countries don't like us anyway. They think and act like they are better than us while benefiting from our wasteful and unfettered largesse. We spend tens of billions every year buying other countries loyalty, bringing economic stability, securing shipping channels, giving economic aid, training and equipping militaries, sharing technological innovation and the like. For what? Israel, Ukraine, Jordan, Egypt, The Philippines, Hong Kong, South Korea, Taiwan…. the list goes on and on of countries that either wouldn't even exist, or at a minimum wouldn't exist in any way that resembles what they are today, without the United States' full support and/or security guarantees. The same could be said of all of Europe, most of Asia and Africa if we hadn't been who were were from 1943-1991 We cut them off and now we see their true colors.

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

That is rubbish.

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

I am pretty sure that this isn't true.

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

Please keep in mind that MAGAs are not the kind to generally travel outside the country.

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

A country's people(s), imho, should be judged and felt-about on a case-by-case, individual basis only, and not by what's going on beyond their immediate control. Folks who hate Americans because that's where they happen to have been born, and without considering anything else, are thinking and behaving unjustly

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

Americans tourists have always been caricatured. Most Americans I've met have been aggressively friendly and slightly condescending. Nothing has changed on that front. People get treated mostly because of how they act not where their origins are.

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

I can think of a few million people that hate Russia more than America

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

Meanwhile people are constantly trying to get in here. If youre letting a singular american affect everything you do in their company, thats on you

by Big-Werewolf-8036 3 weeks ago

Issue is, the americans that the rest of the world meets are usually great. The ones you all hate, us passport owners dislike as well, but alas it is a big country with an even bigger microphone We are by no means a monolith, far from it. Frankly we are more diverse in background and opinion that almost any other country, we just dont get the grace of being looked at that way, you all see our politics and assume many things, without understanding of the nuance and depth of the factors that surface all this mess.

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

True, a lot of the people who fit the overly patriotic stereotypes never even leave their home state. They absolutely aren't traveling abroad. Why would they if they think the US is so superior?

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

I dont even that that stereotype is true. Even in the patriotic places, the redblooded loud america #1 sentiment is not even that common. Those of us who are educated and in cities and diverse places have some elitism tendencies, but a lot of those are a lot more warranted (best schools, high salaries, opportunity to get rich, resources to do creative things…etc) but we are equally critical of our rather preventable issues (healthcare, infrastructure…etc)

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

If you look at people in small towns with military backgrounds it's absolutely there. I've also found it to be more common with lower income people, I think as a way to cope? Like they're struggling but convincing themselves they're at least better off being in the US. Tons of people are critical, but there are genuinely a lot of people who blindly love the USA. I'm in social work, and I've seen people on all parts of the spectrum.

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

But we've never been taught this??? Most Americans don't believe we're the best country in the world. Maybe during the Cold War it was true, but not anymore.

by Olsonmyriam 3 weeks ago

American propaganda 101 is "greatest country in the world" and "freedom". You also have an insane amount of national pride for no reason. This is also propaganda that is instilled at a young age. I mean many schools make you pledge allegience to the flag every morning. Thats not normal.

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

I'm sorry, but you're being straight up hateful. You're painting a quarter of a billion people with one broad brush stroke. It's not that simple. We're a diverse nation. Most of us here loathe the type of person you're describing.

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

Bubble

by kuvalisadah 3 weeks ago

The US deserves to be hated for electing the wannabe fascist into office.

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

I hope it was stolen so we can do something about it but until there is undeniable proof of it, we sound no different to the MAGA cult crying foul at the 2020 election

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

Wouldn't matter if there was proof. The system is rigged in his favor he openly breaks the law all the time and nothing happens

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

If becoming the most hated comes at a loss of allies that do not participate in fair and equal tariffs and rely on our nation for their safety, all while watching the greatest nation on earth be crippled in debt to support their socialist programs and fund their research, then I'm afraid that is a cost we'll have to bear.

by Anonymous 3 weeks ago

Aww look at you. Parroting the lines just like you were told. Good little sheep.

by Davisjoanne 2 weeks ago

Ahh how cute you are not able to think and yet you survive in this world. Congratulations buddy.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

That's only an unpopular opinion in the US because they are petulant children who have had it drilled in to thier heads that they are special and never been told no.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

I'm not sure this is very unpopular here either.

by Additional-Being-471 2 weeks ago

But we don't? Where do you all get the idea that most of us believe we're superior for being American? Maybe during the Cold War that was true, but not anymore.

by Olsonmyriam 2 weeks ago

This is all stuff that really only applies to right-wing Americans. The majority of us don't buy into that crap. Also, the majority of us hate what's happening. We're a diverse people.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

We deserve everything that's coming to us and too many people don't know it or don't want to know it.

by Leather-Actuary 2 weeks ago

From about 1970 I was to be proud to be American. In 2016 it changed to embarrassment. In 2024 it changed again, I am ashamed. I doubt it will get better before I die.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

USA allows for public criticism through freedom of speech, not every nation has this privilege. Mexican immigrants love USA more than some Americans, as they have seen first hand how much freedom and opportunities they now have versus in their home country. Many Mexican immigrants come from a part of the world were the police are practically ran by the cartel. They immigrate to the USA and are over joyed with the institutions and opportunities. ¡Viva México, y viva Los Estados Unidos de America!

by Tod18 2 weeks ago

Every country in the G7 allows free speech. And universal healthcare. And paid maternity leave. And women's right to make decisions for thier own healthcare. And a complete lack of school shootings. Mexican immigrants like the US because it is literally the country next to them. It doesn't make the Americans special

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Spanish, Portuguese, and Italians also love USA. I just used Mexico as an example as it is the most common. Most Americans haven't even lived outside of USA but love to critique it as they have. I personally have worked with Portuguese, Italian, and Filipino immigrants who always remind me how much more opportunity there is for success in my home of the USA. I have personally lived in Mexico as well and saw first hand the lack of institutional support from the public officers (police, law, etc.) To say Mexicans only like the USA because it's close is honestly hilariously ignorant. Good day to you, God bless America, ¡la tierra de las oportunidades!

by Tod18 2 weeks ago

America is hated not Americans, Same with Israel. Will you 2 sort your sh!t out ASAP pls.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

Just don't go walking around in your red KKK hat and flag-print cargo shorts and you should be fine. That's actually hard for some people…. And being kind goes a long way.

by NefariousnessSea3163 2 weeks ago

I mean yes, Trump is evil and the damage he's doing is incalculable. I, for one, an boycotting American services where I can and won't be travelling there again at least while he's in office but possibly longer. BUT he's not Vladimir Putin. He's not invading a sovereign nation and it's not American soldiers committing war crimes against Ukrainian civilians and raping their women while their girlfriends back home cheer them on. Trump is completely soulless, I concur. But if you think he or America is more hated than Putin's Russia right now, you're completely off your face.

by Aisha94 2 weeks ago

Most people won't care about American citizens. Heck. We bring them in a ton of money as tourists so they will continue to love that.

by Odell43 2 weeks ago

American here, I talked to my british friend when trump was elected. He said ( paraphrasing here ) "Yeah we are pretty stupid, especially when it comes to Boris Johnson and Liz ( something ), but we're not american stupid and electing and lying millionaire who promises to fix the system that got him rich and think everything will be better".

by Ill-Evidence 2 weeks ago

I don't hate Americans, but they have the cuntiest nation going at the moment.

by Anonymous 2 weeks ago

We don't care. God Bless America 🇺🇸

by damoremateo 2 weeks ago

For the record, a lot of us didn't want him, we just didn't want the other option either. We were put between a rock and a hard spot, and it swayed in his direction. It doesn't mean we all support him, we all just either have to live with it or just didn't want the other option. It's only a small portion that actually supports him, and they make all of Americans look bad.
